3plus3, thanks! Yes, you’re right, it’s on the Common App page.

Thanks, 3plus3! That’s very helpful to know.

Got letter in the mail today. Says they didn’t make any decision yet and want to see mid year grades. Nothing’s updated on the portal either. I’m OOS from NY.

Have a feeling my D will be getting that same letter we are from ny also been waiting since oct still says under review ): good luck to you

To Twillsmomnp…thought I’d let you know that my son’s portal still has not been updated. Now we have the holiday on Monday, so the waiting is drawn out a little longer. I feel bad for everyone who is anxiously waiting! :(

My NJ OOS got the letter yesterday that they want to see mid-term grades and he will get a decision by early March. He applied for engineering, with 1970 SAT (600R, 790M, 580W), with a strong upward trending GPA. I graduated from UD. He has been a starting varsity athlete for all 4 years and has many other EC’s and several leadership positions.

atj1996 What were your childs stats that you received this letter. Wondering if My D will receive it too. She has a 1870 SAT and a 4.2 GPA out of a 4.6

3plus3, thanks for letting me know. Maybe you’ll get something in the mail first.

My S got the same letter today too- waiting for midterm grades and hope a positive decision by March. His GF however got the BLUEHENS acceptance package yesterday. It is her first choice so we are over the moon for her. Looks like those on the cusp will be notified in March once 1st 1/2 year grades go out. We are in NJ btw.

So…my daughter got her acceptance letter today - yet her Blue Hen portal still says “under review”. We are in-state so I was worried that maybe she had only been accepted into the Associates in the Arts program, but the acceptance letter does not indicate that. Plus it talks about a housing deposit so I assume she’s admitted to Newark campus. Not sure what’s up with the portal.

Kmeyers67 my ACT is a 26 and my GPA is 3.3 and 3.56W. Took 3 APs and 3 college courses. My ECs are pretty good though. Co president of finance club and FBLA club, state finalist in global business for FBLA, 4 year varsity athlete in soccer and lacrosse, 3 time state champion in soccer, all conference in soccer, I applied in mid October.

So what do the mid-year report letters mean? We are differed? Do they mean we have a good chance of getting accepted if we have an excellent mid year report to send in?

We went for a campus tour on Friday. They stated that they make decisions on the students they are sure of (accepted or not.) For the ones they are not completely sure about they will look at mid year reports. They stated that they will send a letter after 8 weeks of waiting to let you know they will be looking at mid year reports.

It would be my perspective that if an applicant receives this type of letter that they are still seriously in contention for acceptance. UD likes to see Sr. HS students take 5 major courses both semesters of their Sr. year. They take a dim view of Sr. students who decide to “coast” through their Sr. year of HS. They are looking for applicants who are continuing to show good/improving grades during their Sr. year. They feel that if this is the case then these are students that are more likely to continue this trend once they enter the rigor of courses given at UD. OOS competition for admission to UD has been skyrocketing over the past few years, especially in the most highly competitive majors for admission like chemical engineering and nursing. I suspect the overwhelming majority of students receiving this letter will be accepted (or at the very least wait-listed) as long as they have shown that they are able to sustain/improve on their grades in relation to their previous performance. Just a word of advice should an applicant receive a “wait list” offer. Be advised that UD does not rank their wait list (although it probably is broken down by major applied to). It is “first come, first served”. So if you are seriously still interested in attending UD after getting a wait list offer you should accept this ASAP. Over the past few years at least a good proportion of individuals who accept a wait list offer are ultimately accepted (obviously not guaranteed). Good luck to all those still waiting.

Hi, I received my acceptance letter to the College of Engineering on January 18. I had not checked the portal prior to getting the letter, but my portal has been updated.

My son’s status just changed to admitted!! The BlueHen Portal now says:

You plan to start: 2014 Fall Semester
Application: Thanks for applying!
Status: Admitted
Decision: Congratulations on your admission to the University of Delaware!

Forgot to mention that he is OOS - NY.
UW GPA - 3.35
ACT: 24
Accepted to College of Arts and Sciences

RDadPop: Congratulations. Did your son have a specific major or was he undeclared? I don’t think we have heard of any “undeclared” acceptances on this board up to now that were announced.

My D was just admitted today as well. CAS “undeclared”. Doesn’t look like any merit award so she may not be attending :-(

If I haven’t received anything yet what does that mean? Do they just want to see my mid year grades?
