Delaware Class of 2018 Acceptances

Congratulations to all of the students accepted thus far, especially to those accepted into the Nursing Program. Our D graduated from UD with her BSN in 2010. She then landed a fantastic extremely competitive first Nursing position at Cornell-Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC on one of Cornell’s Neurological ICU units. She worked there 2 years, passed the Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification exam, and was accepted by a number of top Nursing Grad Programs (including Penn) to obtain her MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She decided to attend the Univ. of Miami (she is a warm weather person) and will be graduating there this Summer. The point I am trying to make here is that UD’s Nursing Program is held in high esteem by Academic Medical Centers and Nursing Grad Programs, which I feel reflects highly on the quality of Nursing education a student can receive at UD if a student applies themselves to the best of their abilities. The Nursing Clinical Honors Program courses our D took at UD were outstanding (and you don’t have to be in the Honors Program to take these courses as long as your GPA is high enough). If anyone has any questions about the Nursing Program at UD please feel free to PM me and I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. Again Congrats to all students accepted. Good luck to all applicants still waiting to hear.

Just called admissions…second twin was admitted to engineering! The admissions officer was so kind to tell me over the phone!

Has anyone who applied on Dec 1 heard back yet?

I am beginning to feel like my OOS son from NJ is the only one that has not heard yet. I am a UD alum and this is driving me crazy. Can someone who has been accepted tell me where they saw it on the portal? Does your status change from applicant to accepted? For those of you from NJ that have heard, what county are you from?

My daughter applied 11/2 for business. We’re from CT. Still waiting…Anyone else apply for business or from CT?

MY D waiting too… ny 10 weeks and counting

I found out in 8 weeks…wierd

My D is still waiting too, in PA.

12 weeks and counting here if you go from his application date. I’m thinking my son was on the cusp of the average student profile so they may be waiting on first term grades.

CRAZYSOCCERMON, From NJ. My D was accepted yesterday. From Passaic Co. but school in Essex Co. When she logged in to her Blue Hen Portal, it came up on the screen. " Congratulations …You have been accepted… She applied mid Nov. and all info was received by UD before 12/1.

Portal changes

So, re: mid-year grades … do they want them? Can’t seem to find that anywhere on the website. He has to submit a request for them to be sent to the HS if they do want them.

My DS applied mid-October (probably Nov 1 by the time everything was complete/downloaded by them) and he hasn’t heard anything yet. I wouldn’t have thought his stats would have put him in the middle (more like 75%, I think…), so a little crazy-making that he hasn’t heard yet. UDel is not his first choice, but its the first one we expected we’d hear from, and we’re closing in rapidly on the U of MD and NC State notification date (Jan 30).

My S waiting as well but he had to submit a portfolio so I am thinking that portfolio reviews might slow the whole process down and will not hear to until closer to March even though he applied in November.

To ailinsh1, I think the midyear report requirement is listed for UDel on the common app, if I recall correctly.

Nothing yet for my son. All his material was submitted in mid-October, but they had trouble getting his teacher recommendation letter. I emailed Admissions and was told he was actually completed at end of November due to getting the teacher recommendation letter late. They just said there would be a decision in 8-12 weeks after everything is completed. So, 8 weeks would be this week.

He applied for Chemical Engineering from PA. He would not be in the Honors Program, so I’m hoping maybe they’re accepting the Honors Program people now and working their way through.

It is so nerve-wracking waiting!!

Our school automatically sends out term reports to every school our kids have applied to via Naviance.

My daughter found out today she was accepted into Honors - her first choice. All documents were received on Dec 4. SHe received a $10,000 merit scholarship. Can she also receive additional financial aid once we submit the FAFSA. When they do a breakdown of expected costs it says grants/scholarships.

Thanks

Gary

Financial aid is directly linked to the FAFSA. Grants and scholarships are NOT considered financial aid, even though they certainly aid in the financing of college.

Financial aid would include Stafford loans and work study.

3plus3, was your second son’s status posted on the Blue Hen page? I am asking because we are still waiting and I wonder if more decisions are soon to be forthcoming.

Twillsmomnp, no, his portal has not been updated yet. The admissions officer told me that the portals are updated “after the letter is printed”. She thought that his letter would be printed later today and that his portal would possibly be updated late in the day or tomorrow. I would assume then that there will be more decisions posted this week. Good luck!
