Yep, you can have the desk shelf taken away. The front desk will take it for you, I believe, along with whatever else you want to be taken away. :)

You cannot have a loft bed in a single, though, or have bed raisers.

When you say the front desk will take anything away, does this include the uncomfortable wooden desk chairs?

Yep. They'll take those, too. :) Or you could opt for a chair cushion instead of buying a chair.

gummiebear, you say that we aren't allowed bed risers... but I had them on my bed the past two years and my RAs from both years saw 'em and didn't say anything.

anyway, out of curiosity, why would you not want your shelfs?

are there dressers in a triple? can they fit in there? and where exactly can you fit a tv? and what is a reasonable size for a tv? haha, wow lots of questions.

are waste baskets provided in the dorms?

Indeed they are.

so in response to ckings' question i want to ditch the shelves because i'd rather have the extra space for a monitor, and i don't really have anything i'd put on them anyways.

to the couple (or one, maybe) of you who mentioned that you had lofted beds, if one was to hypothetically do that, what materials would be necessary? i don't really know how any of the beds work there

The shelf doesn't take up that much desk space.

Reasonable size TV? Maybe 20" or so?
