so a double is like a typical room in broward, jennings, etc. .... thanks just wanted to clarify

yep, like broward/jennings

Wow kinda looks like we all choose the same places.

I have a question. I put jennings for summer and broward for fall as my first choices but fletcher for second choice. I really dont want to room there anymore and I know from asking the people on the online chat that I probably wont get those anyway.

Should I bother changing them? And if so what other dorms on the East side of campus besides Beaty are good or should I put some dorms from the West side of the campus like Graham? What does everything think about that dorm?

Can anyone tell me how Graham and Weaver are like?

In case anyone wants to know, I just found out that rawlings became available for summer so i switched my summer choices to:

Jennings
Hume
Rawlings

I would change it, because there is a chance you will get fletcher if broward gets full.

The other traditional style on east campus are: Mallory, Yulee, Reid, Rawlings and on west, I would pick simpson>trustler>graham. The reason is Simpson is mandated to be freshmen only dorm every year.

Its hell to be an RA in jennings, hume, rawlings over the summer. Freshmen tend to be a lot more open to make friends than upperclassmen but freshmen also dont follow the rules.

Asmaj which would you recommend: Hume vs. Jennings as a first choice for summer?

Honestly they are both basically the same over summer. I personally would pick jennings just because is closer to classes, dining halls, gym, and I know that the jennings sumB people are into making friends. But again, they are the same.

---> Try not to have parties in your room or break the more serious rules. More likely than not you will get caught.

haha thanks i'll remeber that

How good is the food in the dining halls. I went to UF last summer and stayed overnight and ate at the broward dining hall for lunch and breakfast and the food was great. Is the food good all year round or only when they are trying to recruit students.

Varies from day to day. Some days its good but others its crap. I personally prefer gator dining during the year. The food during PREVIEW will never be that good again. I recommend that you go to broward dining @ ~4:30pm on the 1st day of preview so you can get the good food. The preview people usually arrived around 5pm. Just get a schedule on when preview is.

how strange... I was just going through those random dorm pictures that were posted and I recognized the girl in it--she graduated from my HS last year.

what kind of events do dorms do as a dorm? I heard about ice cream socials but what else takes place besides just partying?

can i get pictures of murphree and sledd? i'm getting worried because the three i picked (lakeside, murphree, and sledd) do not seem to be desired and I wonder why.

Lakeside is nice but far from classes and the center of campus ( it is not walking distance to anything). Kids take a bus or bike to class.

Murphee is suite style...not that many freshman and not great for meeting new people (since you only come in contact with the 10 or so people on your wing/floor).

Many freshman want to 1) Be close to classes
2) Meet lots of new people

The more traditional dorms are better for this (Broward, Jennings, Rawlings, etc)

Seiclan, just one correction. Each section of murphree hall contains 20-35 residents. With sections A,F,G, and (j or K) being the smallest.

Does anyone have any suggestions for East Hall or any information regarding the setup, social activities, etc.?

East has the same traditional setup as broward/jennings. They usually try to get RA's that are engineering/physics/math majors. You are right beside the dining hall and both stadiums. Can get loud on game days if you do go to them. Bus stop located right outside East Hall. The engineering college building only a 30 sec walk away. If you do research in material science, then its just right across the street. Parking available for freshmen, but 4 min walk away.

Thanks ASMAJ. I visited UF and was thrilled with the location and the proximity to Ben Hill Griffin and the O-Dome. I'm a huge tailgater and have season tickets, so the noise won't at all be a problem. I'm also an engineering major, so I figured East would make the most sense for me. I wasn't sure if it was the same style as Broward, Jennings, etc. so thanks, that is very helpful!
