EA Admission Decisions

D was deferred. Intended major is Journalism. A bit disappointed and a little confused, especially given her EA acceptance to Emerson. That actually was the school we thought she would have the most difficult time getting into, given it's size (not that she is complaining, as Emerson was her 1st choice). But, she really liked Northeastern, as did we. Will probably contact them after the holidays to see what else she needs to do to be considered for admission in the spring. Oh well, who knows what they are looking for - LOL!

My D was also deferred. But here's one that really is silly. One of her friends got the email saying a decision had been made. She went through the 1 1/2 hour process of trying to get to the decison letter. When she finally got there, it said that they hadn't made the decision yet and would let her know later in the month. Unbelievable!!! Why put a kid through that by emailing them that a decision had been made and then get that response? that was really torture for her. I had been deferred earlier in the day by another school so this just added to her being upset.

Just noticed my typo in the last post. The last sentence should read that "she" had been deferred. I guess I really feel for these kids:-)

Got in with Dean's Scholarship (14K). Crazy stuff.

1830 SATs, 29 ACTs, top 15% of my class.

Eh, I dig it.

For anyone who got in the honors program and/or got scholarships..keep in mind that to maintain scholarships you have to keep a 3.0 and to maintain honors status it is 3.4! There are some probationary "helps" for freshman. My son, who is a good student, and generally finds academics easy just got his grades...has a 3.529 for first semester so be aware 3.4 is not like 3.4 in high school.

I checked again (just in case it was some glitch or whatever... I'm just deluding myself) and I did get accepted but still no link under "Decision Letter" saying anything about money.

CollegeBound: Did you get the scholarship info in a different pdf file?

accepteddd!

mediocreme, yes different pdf file below the decision letter.
Are you looking in the right place. Here is what I did:
https://www4.student-1.com/StudentApp/
Enter admission id number beginning with N....
date of birth click Login.
after you click agree, wait for a long time for the pages to load.
You should see admission letter and scholarship letter below that.

Looking at the merit award versus stats posted so far, it seems a bit arbitrary. Or may be, they are trying keep away kids who may appear to use Northeastern as safety. Who knows.
Although I got 16K/yr, now I am hoping for a full ride, come March. Otherwise, it is UMass-Amherst for me!

Let us know if you got the merit aid, good luck.

Collegebound, do you know anything about how the full-rides work?

After the RD round, they take relook at the top 1 or 2 percent of the admitted students and select several full ride and several more full tuitions. During the visit, my mom asked how many and I vaguely recall that about 50 or 60 such scholarships!

neon- what was ur sat breakdown? i have the same stats but a 1870 on the sat and i got 5,000..what gives?:(

RatedPG, your D's stats are probably good enough to be in the top 1 or 2% of the pool. (My GPA rank stats are similar but SAT scores are higher)

senior 07, there may have been other considerations, other than SAT. (I am just guessing - things such as URM)

I just found out last night that I got accepted. I couldn't open the decision letter though so I am going to try again later. I still haven't visited the campus but I heard so much good stuff about it...

I had 1180 SAT
3.6 GPA
Top 25% of my class in a class of 180

How do you find out if you get any scholarship money?

AIM: --> JSmooth406

Come talk to me if you are a future Northeastern student =)

Collegebound, I remember seeing your stats in another thread - your SAT's were a lot higher, so I am sure you will be in that pool. I seem to remember reading somewhere about an interview process for these full rides? Not sure what other requirements there may be.

Did you get into the honors program and what school?

collegebound2007- yeh URM would def be a reason.. soo neon..if u dont mind me asking what were ur stats and do u have any hook such as being a URM?

does any1 kno if theres anyway to talk to someone about gettin more merit aid if u think u shouldve?

To senior o7,

My SATs weren't spectacular, but I got a 550 Critical Reading, 650 Math, 630 Writing.

How'd your extracurriculars look?

RatedPG, yes I got into honors program. I indicated computer science, but I am not sure...

i got a 600 m and 640 verbal 630 writing

as far as extra curriculars go im a 3 sport varsity athlete, national honor society, spanish honor society, habitat for humanity, girls leaders service organization, got awards in athletics and academics...

what are yours?
