I’m a PC user now, but will probably get a mac for college. +2, Northwestern has a mini apple store in the bookstore at Norris, so i would think the tech support is pretty good on campus.

Macs are aesthetically beautiful…and I really like the idea that there are no vents. But I generally view Macs as excellent computers for photo/video editing and that kind of stuff. Would it be just as useful for someone not going into those fields? Does Northwestern have a preference for one over the other?

As much as I would love to get a macbook pro, my mom would not let me spend that much money on a laptop. I probably have to settle for a ~700 Dell or something.

I DEPLORE dells with a passion… Talk about the walmart of PCs!!

I’m actually glad they’re taking their time, but they should have told us a specific date.

Favorite tv show and why?
Weeds-- funny dealings

the office–dwight schrute

@Glenny
Yes!!
Weeds is hysterical, but I’ve only seen the first season…

Nurse Jackie–It’s impossible to not like that show.

Glee FTW. Also, True Blood. Why? Because they’re awesome. End of story.

Weeds is lawlable, but Mad Men>you.

Glee! The last episode was amazing!
And I have to admit I am a Gossip Girl fan :-)

Computer: I’m a lifetime Mac!

@crystalcastles: You are awesome. Gossip Girl = one of my favorite TV Shows ever. And Glee is absolutely amazing. That last episode was the best one without a doubt. Can’t wait til next season

To anyone who’s actually gotten used to Mac’s interface, there’s simply no comparison at all with PC. Mac just doesn’t have the problems PC does, plain and simple. Glitches, bugs, security, hardware issues, performance… no contest. The only issue is software, but there’s always Boot Camp for that.

TV: Lost. It’s the only show I watch :O

I’ve been following this thread religiously for the past few days, waiting in eager anticipation to see if anyone has heard anything about the release date and has the courage to call the admissions office and demand to know whether they’ve been accepted or not. I’ve been trying not to post in hopes of not jinxing myself (I also have worn my Northwestern t-shirt to bed every night since I sent in my application because I knew I couldn’t possibly go 2 months without touching it. So I did the exact opposite.) but it looks like I just gave in.

Anyway, I’ve had dreams about getting this e-mail multiple times every night for the past week, so I can totally relate to you guys. I’m a Theatre major prospy, so this is all driving me insane, especially looking at threads from previous years and seeing the competition to be a theatre major. And just to catch up with everyone else:

I’m a PC-turned-Mac and let me tell you, once you go Mac you’ll never go back.
TV Shows? Well Glee (see above for intended major), The Office, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Who else applied to Medill?

I think I’m going to make the switch. Thanks for all the responses!

The last episode of Glee was just a midseason finale…I’m pretty sure it comes back April.

So back to my other question, is it absolutely improbable that we’ll hear today?

Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the best show ever

@crytalcastles: I, too, applied to Medill.

As for the PC vs Mac thing, I’ve only ever used PCs because they tend to be a bit on the pricier side. I’m just fine sticking with my HP, but if Northwestern wants me to switch, you’d better believe I will.

I also applied to Medill.

Oh and Friends is a classic. I’ve seen every episode. I don’t really know if I should be proud of that or ashamed of the fact that I’ve spent so much of my life watching Friends.

I really do think that there’s about a 5% chance that we’ll hear today. According to Northwestern’s website, the undergraduate admissions office is never open on Sunday. Unless they have some really (almost unreasonably) dedicated and loving admissions counselors who want to make/ruin the days of 1.5-2 thousand anxious applicants, there’s likely no chance that we’ll hear today. I’m betting on tomorrow, but that’s not stopping me from refreshing my e-mail every half hour or so.

I love The Office. My best friend and I actually visited Scranton, PA last year during a trip out to NYC… it was a big disappointment. Also, King of Queens is hilarious. I love Doug Heffernan.

Friends was great at first, but it got dragged on wayyyy too long. By the end everyone dated everyone, and it was just pretty bad.
How I Met Your Mother is my favorite TV Show ever. As Barney would say, it is Legen-Dary
