Emory ed1 class of 2020

I wish I could get an interview. Wish it would be a part of the process. They’ve been testing it out the last few years, maybe they’re getting ready to make it a part of the process like MIT (friend said he had to interview as part of the process for MIT but idk personally)

Yeah, I live in one of the (actually 12) cities and was a bit surprised that I was never contacted for an interview.

@bernie12 I was just wondering, I know that you said academic interests should be taken into account since Emory is trying to move to a more intellectual environment rather than totally pre-professional. I did apply under a humanity (history), but I’m also pre-law… Will that hurt my chances?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! ~:> Because I am an international student, I don’t really have a chance to go to America cities to have an interview. However, I did one called Initialview. Emory accepts that interview and you can scheduled it online. Hope this answer could help!

Great thanks so much.

@Starlight97 Thank you for the response. I can’t figure out how to schedule one…it isn’t on Emory’s website.

It wouldn’t be through Emory, you would schedule it with the company and then submit the interview as a supplemental part of your resume.

@Oliea98 : No, shouldn’t, plus pre-laws display a range of majors and academic interests and is generally losing steam. The interest in the humanities is what counts. It’s just that many pre-meds stick to common majors like neuroscience, biology, human health, anthropology, and various health related majors so admitting and matriculating too many of them certainly lowers academic diversity

@NeuroDude The website seems to look like it’s for international students. Is it common for domestic students to do this?

@bernie12 Okay, that’s great to hear! Thanks!

I beleive the initialview interview is considered a supplement for international students. The in person interviews they conduct in the states are done by alum and do not impact admission decisions. I think it’s just for research on the people that apply. For example, in an article I read on their admission blog they wrote that out of the ___ number of people that applied RD that they did interviews with, lots said emory isn’t their first choice.

But as far as providing a supplement, you should do it if you think you interview well! I provided a writing portfolio since I’m a published author and I thought it would add to my application (after all, I’m an intended pre med neuroscience major). However, I don’t know if it’s too late to submit it. But if you want to try you would email it as an attachment to their general admissions department email address.

Hope that helps!

Only a sweet, sweet 16 days left :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey guys I’m also very excited for the release date. I have a countdown app on my phone that reads 392 hours!

@jbart25 haha Im anxious enough as it is! I would probably stay glued to that clock if I had it.

@jbart25 what about emory do you love?

Emory feels like a bubble away from the busy stressful world and everyone there is so happy to be there. My friend who goes there now compares it to summer camp because it is such a happy place

@jbart25 it’s so wonderful you feel that way because honestly, I do to. I’ve always been a city girl at heart and it’s nice to be really close but also have a community feel.

I’m the same way! I also love Atlanta and that the CDC is right there because I want to go into medicine

Ugh I meant *too not to
And I love ATL more bc of the CDC (even though it scares the crap out of me what’s in there. But I guess we can fear or we can care right?). Epidemiology is one of my classes right now and it’s making me glad we will have access to them if we go to emory.

Yes I loved the supplement essay! It was so different from any other school
