I just updated my admissions rep and he emailed me back today just thanking me for the update. I think they’re done accepting people. Also, Emory only has a college of arts and sciences lol @jbob23
@rnn5043 : Oxford?
I’m under the impression they will send letters out once the process is complete.
I mean they said mid-summer but no one has heard anything back so I’m not sure hopefully there will be good news in the near future.
Welseyan updated their waitlisted students today and I didn’t make the cut. Starting to get really nervous about Emory. Im curious, is anyone here a QB applicant who got denied/waitlisted from all QB partners? I really thought that with my résumé, test scores, academic history, and QuestBridge I would have no problem getting into a good school. Instead the admissions process has been a nightmare.
@Tanisha865 REALLY?! With Quest bridge? What schools did you apply?
@Tanisha865 My daughter was QB and was denied/waitlisted at all the partner schools she applied to. The whole admission process has been a nightmare for her too.
@VANDEMORY1342 I applied to U Chicago, Emory, Oberlin, Wesleyan, Wellesley, and Tufts. Waitlisted at Wesleyan, Emory, and Wellesley, rejected from the rest.
@Tadtown let your daughter know she is not alone. I guess some kids slip through the cracks no matter what.
no, emory @bernie12
@Tanisha865 so where are you headed?
When do you think we’ll finally be notified since Wesleyan applicants now know? @Tanisha865
@Tanisha865 Im really sorry to hear that. I will say all of these schools have admit rates lower than 20% except Emory, and SAT’s over 1430, so again very hard to get into and reaches for almost everyone.
@rnn5043 : No, I am reminding you and others that Oxford is considered an undergraduate entity of Emory that students can be directly admitted into. I do not really view it as something completely separate. You mean to say Emory main only directly admits to ECAS unless one is a Goizueta (sp?) Scholar I suppose. Those also get guaranteed GBS BBA program admission.
I just wish they would release one final wave of decisions for those who are waitlisted to put our minds at ease and soon preferably
@Dontskipthemoose currently it’s looking like a gap year. None of my safety schools are offering enough aid so Im hoping to do AmeriCorps, apply for a bunch of scholarships, work, and reapply to lower tier schools who will offer me more aid next year. Unfortunately my family kind of put all our eggs in the QB basket and no one was telling us to do any different. @Emoryhopeful2021 there’s really no telling but I figure when a few schools start notifying their waitlisted applicants the rest should follow. @VANDEMORY1342 thanks, and yeah it was a bit of a reach but my test scores were in the proper range, Im in the top ten people in my class, and Im state and nationally recognized for music so I thought I’d get into Oberlin at least but this year’s pool seems extra competetive.
Don’t worry @Tanisha865 a gap year is an incredible experience I’m sure with your stats you’ll get into a great school next year and you never know emory still hasn’t released all decisions there’s still hope
@Tanisha865 I looked at the admit rates for the schools you applied to and I was way off. I’m wondering how you didn’t get into Wesleyan and Oberlin with 55 and 30% respectively? Maybe you should appeal to see if your application was finished or maybe something negative was said in your rec’s. Its worth a shot.
@VANDEMORY1342 Maybe you’re right. Although at this point I doubt an appeal will do much good. It’s alright though, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that Im going to take a gap year. I did write a letter to the founder of QB explaining my situation and that the program should encourage students to have multiple affordable backups in the future so that future qualified applicants don’t have the same name problems that I did and I would encourage @Tadtown to do the same. The more people complain hopefully the more improved we see for the next generation of applicants.
Sorry guys! Didn’t mean to turn this into a discussion about QuestBridge I was just curious to see if anyone had gone through the same thing I did.
