Hismatix, what do you think your “hook” was? Good grades, test scores, an exceptional essay? If you don’t mind.

thank hismatix! that’s very helpful.

Hismatix would you mind sharing your GPA? I know they take a holistic approach, but I keep hearing 3.8… but I also know a guy who got in with a 3.6. I’m hovering just above 3.5 and I think that’s the greatest weakness in my app. My letters, essay, and everything else were strong.

the importance of grades fluctuates by age and work experience. ive witnessed applicants accepted with a low 3 and applicants rejected with a 3.8. for those who are above avg age work experience becomes a more important element. for ex military its about the rec’s and the essay, articulating what he or she wants to do and why columbia is the best fit to pursue that goal.

I wonder how often they reject 4.0’ers.

never Natdcny

That can’t be true, and if it is woohoo!

I’m in!!! FedEx envelope arrived today!!!

congratulations natdcny. now you can breathe again. :)

OMG! No I can’t I’m crying to hard, lol, so elated!

Hi folks,

I received my letter of acceptance today via Fed-Ex. I applied from a community college with a 3.89 GPA, and quite a history.

If I attend, I’ll be entering GS at an age when most are graduating, but I’m grateful for it – I’ve got a clear vision of how I’ll spend my time at Columbia. It ought to be great.

Good luck all,
D.M.

was it fedex standard or priority overnight?

FedEx Express – Standard Overnight

Same here, overnight.

Big congratulations to both of you!!! Very happy for you guys, but also jealous, too!

I have one silly question: Was the envelope delivered by a courier or did you find it in your mailbox? I’ve never had fedex deliver anything to me, so I’m just wondering.

The FedEx guy was at the end of my street by the time I found the envelope at my doorstep. Good thing, I would’ve hugged the s*** out of that guy.

On my door step … I’m sure my screams were heard blocks away, followed by insane sobbing. I’m surprised I’m not explaining myself to the Police right now.

Can’t wait to meet you all next fall! And I wish you all the best of luck!

Guess you were right fy2140!

is everyone here attempting to start or complete their first undergraduate degree? anyone pursuing a second bachelors?
