Campaigner - I appreciate the info. Without getting overly confident in my acceptance, or making any assumptions, if I were to be accepted do you think it’s worth retaking the SATs this summer for the purpose of competitively applying for internships? I don’t know how Columbia does things, but I know other schools are brutal even when you get there if you want an internship with a top tier company offering limited seats. I think Goldman Sachs offers Georgetown’s undergraduate business program something like 40 spots and everyone there is highly qualified and motivated. I guess this really applies for any school, but do you need SAT scores for people to take you seriously? I was hoping from GS it might be more based on your resume and interviews but maybe not.

Everyone else - Putting your life down on paper and asking someone to judge whether or not you deserve to attend a prestigious university based almost on merit alone is stressful. I get it. That said, have a little bit of pride in the effort you made and maybe demonstrate the level of maturity above the average pimple faced 17 year old who needs to be talked off a ledge if he doesn’t make it to an Ivy League school. For me, I believe I’ll be successful wherever I go even if I don’t go to Columbia GS. Not going there is not going to hurt my career or ruin my life, but it has the potential to add to it in a tremendous way. How about a little less pouting, eh? ;)

@misteruee No, when I called in they said many decisions had been made, so I should be hearing very soon. She made it seem like I would hear within the next week. But when we call GS, they don’t have access to the actual decision. I believe all it shows them is whether the application has been reviewed or not.

i just called about five minutes ago and my decision has been finalized as of yesterday. like ‘sktchbook,’ the admissions officer told me that my decision would be mailed out within the next couple days and that i’d receive it by the end of this week. she also told me she didn’t have access to the decision. this waiting is the worst…

@autrereveur Nice man, at least you have a timeline of when you should be getting a response.
If what GS is telling everyone is true, it looks like a lot of us might be getting some good news by friday!! Good luck guys!

Motame - SAT scores don’t matter. At all. If you want to focus on a number, focus on GPA at Columbia. If you want to do something over the summer, prepare for whatever the next classes you’ll be taking, particularly the calculus and statistics sequence.

As a high schooler, I was not a big fan of math – I had taken pre-calculus almost six years ago, and done poorly. But I dove headfirst into Calc 1 - 3, Differential Equations and a computer science at my community college, and managed an A in all but Calc 3 (B) and Computer Science (B+).

Those two B’s, alongside the rest of my courseload (Chinese language, honors classes etc.) were of no consequence. My 3.89 was hard-earned – anyone could see that; I challenged myself, and it paid off! Mathematics? Not so bad after all.

Well… It’s nice to know at least a two of us (27th exam takers) made it! I scoped out the group that day and had made my own assumptions about who would make it, I wasn’t one of them. I was sure the ballet dancer and clean cut West-point looking dude would be a shoe in, hopefully they did.

Good luck autrereveur, hopefully you’ll hear some good news this week! I just called and was told that my app is still under review. Ugh I can’t wait anymore.
