Fall 2013 Early Action

You guys are depressing me! Don’t assume, and don’t expect anything until Friday!

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope everyone recieves good news :)

One of my professors told me yesterday “If you cannot control it, why you worry about it?”. It may relieve my mind, but this rolling admission is basically killing me. I have no idea when the decision is made. Even if I am admiteed to Syracuse and Baruch( I live in NYC), I still feel much exhasted…

Best of Luck !!

Hey hjw, I’m in NYC too! I already got admitted to Rutgers and Hunter. I also applied to NYU and Brown, but I’m not gonna hear from them until mid May. So if Columbia, which is my definite first choice, doesn’t happen, I’m gonna ask Hunter to give me more time to respond since they want me to accept/deny offer by May 1st. Good luck!

i didnt anticipate that gs would be comprised of a band of transfer students. has anyone in this thread not been in school for an extended period of time? i havent seen a classroom since '04.

Guys!!! Twenty minutes ago I came home and saw a door tag from fedex (I live in an apartment building) that I was dreaming of seeing for many weeks now. BUT it did not have an apt number (my heart was racing at that point!). I took it anyway and called fedex customer service to see if it was for me. And it was!!! The lady said it was from Columbia University! I started screaming like crazy! (the lady stay completely calm!) I apologized and thank her. However, then a scary thought occurred to me: what of rejection is also fedex!?? So I decided to call GS and ask them up front what this package is. And…It’s my acceptance package!!! It’s unbelievable!!! I have to go back to lab where I volunteer right now, but I don’t know if I can handle it! oh the universe!! I am sorry I wrote so much, but I am alone in my living right now and I have so many things running through my mind! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE STILL WAITING!!!

Congratulations denbal !!!

You made it!!!

Congrats, denbal87 :-)

Hey anyone else taking the GSAE in LA on Saturday the 27th?
All of my transcripts, letters of rec, applications parts I and II, etc., have been received by GS… I wonder how long I’ll have to wait after the test to know my fate …

Congrats denbal87

Congrats Denbal!

Congratulations, Denbal87!!

Congrats denbal87!!! No more waiting for you!

@misteruee I also applied haven’t been in school since 2003, however, I do think transfer students are more likely to get accepted since the committee will have more recent scholarly material to base their decision on.

On a different note, I called, again, and was told they extended the May 1st date to May 15th to allow them more time to make decisions. All this wait is driving me insane!

Congrats Denbal! ahhh i’m sooo jealous but very happy for you.

geez… the 15th… this is starting to turn into cruel and unusual punishment! lol

nontradguy i literally was thinking the same thing. nothing less than “cruel and unusal punishmen” but at least it shows you how much they care about their applicants!

Fedex was wating. I’m in !!

I wish everyone else the best of luck. Nothing beats looking at the heading of that letter I can tell you that.

If you are taking the GSAE soon this should not hold back your application for too long. I applied really late and got the last of my application in just last week. They were either looking at my application before it was complete or they made the decision within a week of receiving my documents.

To other accepted students and current students - I have a checklist of “missing” documents needed to finalize my acceptance. The only document checked off is Final Transcripts from my current college. Does that mean this acceptance is in some way conditional upon grades or they just need to make sure you don’t stop going to class, fail etc? Just curious. Most of my grades are A’s (3 are almost for sure) but I’m looking at a B in a one credit class and possibly B or C in precalc. Obviously I’m going to fight for the B but do I need to be worried?

When you call GS do you ask to speak to an admission officer to know about your application?

motame what time did it come? i’m on pacific time

@motame oh and congrats!!!
