Fall 2014 Transfer Applicants

Accepted to Wharton and I’m in complete shock!!! Congrats to everyone else, and for those not as fortunate, do not despair. You all are awesome, fantastic, spectacular people no matter what.

@Madisonian Could you share your stats for future applicants? Congrats though that’s really awesome!

@william95 Anyone can feel free to message me for more specifics, so I’ll keep it general. I’m a freshman at UW-Madison, 4.0. Definitely not a “peer” of Penn or Wharton, so I definitely lucked out! Wrote about being extremely interested in Behavioral Econ and Environmental Policy. To be honest, didn’t have a super stellar resume-- just leadership in my business fraternity and dorm, some environmental organizations, and a job as a research assistant at a Behavioral Econ lab. Not sure if it’s relevant, but I was also waitlisted at Wharton my senior year of high school.

Congratulations to everyone that got in! Sadly, I did not receive an admissions offer, but I’m not in shock since my high school gpa and ACT were relatively weak. Have a 3.98 in the honors program at a local state university thus far, however I applied to be a sophmore transfer so I’m not surprised if they considered my high school gpa (3.45 UW) and ACT (28) with large weight.Congrats again to everyone who got accepted. 0 for 2 thus far so hopefully I land an acceptance from one of my other two schools

does anyone know when we can start viewing our financial packages? congratulations to everyone who got in!

@merger007, I called. They said that it will take a minimum of 2 business weeks after the last part of your financial aid application came in for them to get a package back to you.

but you do not when when the last part of your application came in right

@cj2014

@merger007, when I called they told me when the last part came in. If you submitted FAFSA and CSS and tax reports by March 15, yours should be in so I would call and check what’s up with that. If you submitted taxes or something later, it might take a little longer.

@William95 I go to Cornell, so I know what I am talking about and honestly I don’t remember enough about you to comment about the rest of your comments but what do you know about admissions to make such certain statement? just hilarious. Don’t you think it is far-fetched for you to equate your idea about admission process at penn to what is actually happening?

@Madisonian Hi, can you send me the essays you wrote to penn? both why penn and why wharton essay? It would be appreciated.

@William95 and out of sheer indignation, what am i trying to prove here?

Geez lol. I didn’t know I was competing against ppl already in top schools and LACs. gg, guys.

@masqalree I’m aware you go to Cornell, pretty sure I just said that. I don’t know what you’re saying that you know when you say “I know what I am talking about” but anyways…you can believe me or not but regardless I guarantee that there is a greater amount of transfer students from top schools than lower ranked ones. No I don’t think it’s far-fetched at all considering my ideas on admissions are based on the evidence, anecdotal or otherwise, that I have observed. I have no idea what you’re trying to prove here…you seem astounded by your rejection, I don’t know why else you would be asking everyone got in for their essays. It’s over, you didn’t get in, it sucks yes but you’re at Cornell so it could be worse. Good luck to you, sorry if whatever I said offended you in any way. You’re the one that lashed out at me though.

I think once an applicant’s GPA and SAT/ACT reach a certain threshold, admissions deems the applicant capable of keeping up at Penn and those numbers we put so much emphasis on lose value. From what I’ve heard, there is a huge focus on the writing supplement because that demonstrates fit. In addition to that, certain schools (i.e. Wharton) are more competitive. I was admitted with a not stellar GPA from a very average state school to the CAS. I had not previously applied either.

I got into CAS as well. Do any of you think it’s weird to rush as a junior?

@william95 No I am not astounded by my rejection, I want to know why I was rejected so that there’s something I can learn from this whole admission process. You just made an argument that I am trying to prove something here, so it’s on your part to explain what I am trying to prove here.

Would you please paste the part where i said everyone got in for their essays lol. unless you just wanted to read it that way.

And, I just realized how tiring it is to argue with someone who just don’t have the brain capacity to make an argument. Sure as hell, you are gonna interpret the above sentence as me trying to talk you down just so as to prove myself that I am better.

@william95 If is offensive but no offense. I just can’t stand that I am going to the same school as people like you… But then, it is on my part to avoid so, this I would do.

@william95 and based on your writings so far, it seems that you have some sort of complex regarding top school vs average/low-tire school. I don’t know where you come from, but if you judge people or yourself based somewhat, and I did say somewhat, school, that shows your low self-esteem. Because self-esteem is independent of any external factors. Everyone accepted on this homepage aren’t from top schools that you refer to lol.

@jg94403 I agree. The admission is too wayward to be even credible. I guess if I learned anything from this mess, I’d say I won’t take GPA as my life anymore.
