@masqalree Chances are he got in. They look for kids from peer schools mostly at Wharton or ones that are a SLIGHT step down (Notre Dame, NYU Stern, etc.). They only take ~25 kids so why take the kid who’s got a 4.0 at XXX State University over the kid with a 3.8 from an Ivy or top school. I’m sure this isn’t true for 100% of the kids that get in, but probably for the majority of an already very small accepted minority of the overall applicant pool.

@SeekCollege369 No, if anything that helps you.

@william95 I was being sarcastic. if someone from harvard with perfect gpa ever decides to leave the school, I would like to talk to them right now. The mindset you have @william95. you seriously think that upenn decides on name values, gpa, and test scores only? No wonder you didn’t get in. But then I didn’t get in either who thinks that your essay tells more about you than your gpa. So I’m just gonna shut my mouth up.

does anybody have experience with the predictability/consistancy of transfer admissions? relatively speaking, penn was probably the easiest school applied to so Im starting to think this may end poorly for me… :/

it seems that you @william95 got into cornell… This is exactly why i want to leave this place. It’s full of people with low self-esteem and tries to find reasons to justify that. In doing so, they judge other people based on those criteria they judge for themselves.

Rejected by Wharton as a junior transfer. Really don’t understand why. 3.85 GPA at a top 20 school with all prereqs fulfilled… excellent internships, essay and even a rec from Wharton alum

@Rewaska Of course everything matters. But you are bringing in two extreme cases and making an argument. Who doesn’t know the difference between 4.0 at harvard and 4.0 at CC. it’s a holistic process but based on people who got accepted/rejected, gpa is not the primary reason. someone with 3.5 from decent school get accepted while that dude up there from harvard with 3.9 got rejected(assuming he’s telling the truth). I can’t make sense out of their decision based upon the decision they are making. Nor can I get an explanation from the school on their criteria.

@SeekCollege369, it is not consistent at all! I have a friend that got rejected from state schools that’s headed to an ivy. Just keep your chin up! Good luck :)

this is so funny. Cornell already has too many people and yet it is so lenient in accepting new people. Hilarious. I don’t even know why it is an ivy league institution compared to other 7 in the league.

@cj2017 Exactly why I want to leave the place you just got in. Phenomenal institution based on what exactly? Engineering I hear is great but apart from that, I don’t know what Cornell is doing. @delinquente the thing is I showed love for Penn. I was worried that I didn’t focus too much on Wharton.
