i'm no stranger to the winter (I live just outside NYC), but I've never actually worn winter boots with the exception of when I'm shoveling my driveway soo my question...
what types of boots seem to be fasionable among guys when walking to class in three feet of snow??

some guys have timberland boots. i feel like most guys just wear sneakers. also, i've seen people wear flip-flops.

Are North Faces and Uggs popular on campus?j/w =]

^^Yes they are. I always hated Uggs but bought my first pair this past winter. I got the ones with the thick soles and waterproofed the heck out of them and they held up to the weather. I was surprised at how warm and comfortable they were.

beachedout09- haha are northfaces and uggs popular. they are ridiculously popular. girls wear uggs all the time (with leggings) especially in the winter and slip and slide all over the place. and it seems like everyone (guy and girl) has a northface denali jacket.

It's alright, you know, because when all those Long Islanders aren't *****ing about Ithaca weather they are busy planning their next ascent of Aconcagua.

^lol i live on long island and i was just thinking that Cornell winters can't be THAT much colder than Long Island winters. Guess i was wrong then

the biggest difference will be that you probably don't WALK anywhere on LI, you drive...at Cornell you will be walking or waiting for a bus most days...

a great alternative to northface or anything expensive is

LANDSEND...

great winter boots (and shoes) and jackets and a great bargain too!

Actually, besides Patagonia I'd also recommend L.L. Bean too.

I reccommend Sorel boots. They're made in Canada and well, that place has some cold ass weather.

I've heard the hotel students dress the most preppy. Is this actually true?

So do you guys really recommend us buying snow boots for the winter?
Because I dont wanna be the only one wearing them :)

I don't like how high snow boots are so in the winter I just wear a waterproof hiking boot. Plus a hiking boot is much more comfortable to walk in. The downside is that if you step in deep snow, your ankles might get a little damp. But no, you certainly won't be the only one wearing snow boots.

well, this post:
"Let's talk about fashion at Cornell.
First of all, it is very erratic to set the words "fashion" and "Cornell" in the same sentence.
99% of the population at Cornell has no clue about how to combine colors, let alone combine clothes and accessories or have a sense of fashion."

concerns me, since i'm considering applying to cornell for the fiber science and apparel design major =P

The people in that program definitely have a sense of fashion. It is the engineers and aggies who don't/
