SAT 1500+, CAS 10000 scholarship (is that good? im kinda bummed... its still really expensive.. other choice would be Rice), 0 need-based. dang it.

My son got has a 1400 SAT, Lewis Rudin City Scholarship for $25,000, almost $5,000 in loans and $4000 work study. Income about $65000.

My son is also a CAS Presidential Honor Scholar but I guess because of the the Rudin scholarship it doesn't come with any more money.

jenz, I send you a private message!

how come i don't know anything about financial aid decisions yet while i got my acceptance already? people are all talking about scholarships and financial aid, but i've gotten nothing, just a big envelope from nyu with information, my letter, and my nyu account. maybe it's cuz i applied to stern? probably not, but yea...help here anyone? it was supposed to come with my acceptance, right?

SAT: 1500
INCOME: about 90K I think
SCHOLARSHIP: 10K
WORK: 4,000
LOANS: 6,000
OVERALL: 20,000

I'm so happy with my package! I expected 0!!!!!!

SAT: 1500
Income: ~ 25000
Scholarship: 20000
Need-based grants: 9050
Work study: 4000
Loans: 5025

Btw, davidroisme, I applied to Stern and inside the package there was a special Financial Aid folder/guide. Are you sure you qualify for aid?

Well...my family's income right now is only $25K/yr, pretty much the same as yours...i'm pretty sure that i qualify for aid. My SAT was 1460, GPA was 3.92 unweighted...there's nothing in my envelope about financial aid...no folder/guide for it...LKJVDSJVISDFVISJF!!! =T i'm getting worried now...

hmm, i think you should definitely call them up

Office of Financial Aid: 212.998.4444

Maybe they forgot to add it in or something? it's definitely worth a call...

oh yeah, i was also just thinking maybe you can check Albert, on the nyu home site. i haven't used it myself yet but maybe that will tell you something.

25,000 CAS scholarship and all the rest in loans -- how does nyu expect normal people to be able to afford their college? i got much, much better packages at pomona, brown, and dartmouth, and even though i really wanted to attend nyu, it's basically impossible without selling my house, car, and my soul. if nyu wants to attract a vast array of students, then maybe they should try a little harder to give us some money! gah.

EXACTLY!!! i have the same problem here

i didn't apply for financial aid but I would still like to know the estimated cost of attendance. Most of the other schools I applied to sent me a sheet with like the costs (tuition, board, etc...) and stuff but nyu didn't.

Here are estimated general costs for 2005-2006. Keep in mind that it's an estimate and depending which NYU college you're in, and what dorm you chose, it could be higher. Also, I'm not sure that these figures include the estimated increase which comes every year.

u can call NYU and renegotiate your need-based scholarships, generally with some success. They have private counseling at the financial aid office, and there are books at borders on how to do it

100K income, brother at 30k school, I got 16,500 for GSP. Like 7,000 is a "GSP Scholarship" which I didnt even know existed, and the rest is loans.

afaforce did you try to? can you negotiate over the phone or is that generally a face-to-face thing?

chicagojen - that's pretty much what I got. are you going?

Not sure if Im going yet. Im going out there next weekend, so I'll probably decide after that.

Hey chicago no I did not try to, my friend told me that. I've decided to to go to another school so I didn't try to bargain about the financial aid. I'm sure you could even find information online.. and I"m sure you can do it over the phone because not everyone lives close to NYU.

I really hope that my financial aid package will be coming soon. Does it mean that I didn't get any scholarships if I didn't get any with my acceptance? AHHH...$$ is evil.

Yeah... i'd assume so davidroisme. I'm ticked off too cuz 45000 is a lotta money.

sat: 1360, parents income ~100k-ish.., got $20,000 overall.. i got a CAS Scholarship, a J.Eckhouse Scholarship?(duno what that is but i'll take it).. and 2,000 in loans.. still need 24k more.. :(
