for highschool seniors who applied for 2011 fall admissions

@ MConklin

Thank you for your reply!

You are welcome. Good luck!

I do too MConklin!

I got accepted EDII!!!

My “My Roc” status didn’t have anything under “Decision” but I got the letter two days ago. I am so excited!

Does anyone know if the Admissions Reply Form and the down payment must in the hands of the admissions officers ON the date specified (Feb 23 2011), or can I mail it a BY that date, since I only got the letter 5 days before that date and don’t think I will get there by the 23rd regardless.

Did anyone only have one reader? On my app status it says it went straight from first reader to committee…should I be worried?

Congrats tyr0newivy! As long as they are postmarked by that date, your reply form and deposit will be fine. If you are concerned that you won’t be able to have it postmarked by then, you should call the office to request an extension.

goldtortoise… Everyone should have a second reader. I would double check, but if you notice again that no second reader has been assigned, it may be worth calling the office.

MConklin–just checked my tracker. Could it be possible I had a second reader, but their name/info is just not on the page?

Yes… Any questions/concerns that you have may be directed to the first reader. The second reader is usually a more experienced counselor that is assigned an application somewhat at random, so we can’t readily provide the second reader contact information. Every application has a second reader though - who that second reader is is not predetermined.

Just got my acceptance today!
Could not be happier!

sslamp… Congrats! It was nice speaking with you last week, and I’m glad everything worked out.

congrats sslamp!

With acceptances already going out, I shouldn’t be concerned if my MyRoc tracker still says Step 3, should I?

@allegrovivace - mine’s still in Step 2 (has been for a few months now), so you have nothing to worry about I think. :D

Correct… There are still actually quite a few students waiting to be ‘first read’. Those of you who do not have a letter have nothing to worry about.

I don’t remember the exact numbers, but I believe we still had 300 or so admit letters to send at the end of March last year (those numbers should be somewhere on older CC threads), so this is still comparatively early. The vast majority of our acceptance letters won’t go out for another few weeks at least.

I just got accepted!!! I cannot believe this is happening. Rochester’s my reach school and I was one of the first people to find out! I saw “Welcome to University of Rochester” on the huge envelope and I was in shock. It was even a personalized letter of acceptance. Sooo amazing!

Congrats JNLx10! I’m glad it worked out for you and am happy to see that you are excited about Rochester. You may have believed it was a reach school, but I’m certain you earned your acceptance.

I was accepted today! I’m really excited because Rochester is my first choice, but I was hoping for a Renaissance invite, which didn’t come. I knew it was a long shot, but I was still really hoping. What is the range in merit scholarship amounts other than the Renaissance scholarship? I love Rochester, but I don’t know how attending will be possible. My family’s income probably won’t qualify for much financial aid, but I have to pay majority of my way through school. So my dream of rochester isn’t really a possibility without merit money. I was really excited when I got the acceptance because I’m absolutely in love with Rochester, but now reality has set in that without merit I most likely can’t afford it.

collegekids4228 - Our merit letter came about a week or so after the acceptance, not with the original package (my son applied ED). He received a Wilder Trustee Scholarship - 15,000 renewable. Just to give you an idea of other scholarship amounts. Good luck - hope it all works out for you!

collegekid4228… Congrats! This has been an extremely competitive year, so you should be proud. As Debhome mentioned, if you are the recipient of a merit-based scholarship, you should hear from us again in about a week. I’d also encourage you to contact the office if you find that cost is a significant deterrent - I can’t make any guarantees, but we like to enroll students that are excited about Rochester, and if this is your first choice, we’d like to try to find a way to make it affordable.

Our scholarships range from $2,000-full tuition per year. The majority of our scholarships fall in the $7,500-$15,000 range, but studens will receive scholarships of amounts higher and lower than that range.

Got the big envelope today by regular mail! D is so excited, she said she will frame the “Welcome to Rochester” outside envelope for her wall!
