I had a 3.9 gpa first semester at UMiami in the Honors Program

My HS gpa was 3.8, my SATs were 1430/1600 and 2160/2400

And I got rejected from WashU where I thought I'd most likely get in.

Should I freak out? I also applied to Brown, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Colgate.

Now I think I need to apply to some others (my in state school- Uconn, and Wake Forest maybe)

Any others I should consider for a campus-based social life and academic atmosphere. not too big either

I feel sincerely sorry to see your rejection… I also applied to WashU transfer but didn’t get decision yet. Did you get yours today?

Wow, you got rejected with those stats? Hmmm, I am much less confident now that I was a few minutes ago.

I’m sorry, good luck!

wow I really thought you would have gotten in. I am really doubting my application now… Was your essay wash u specific?

No my essay was general common app essay…was that a mistake? Maybe my essay wasn’t unique enough? (It was honest but somewhat straight forward)

I thought I would have a good shot at getting in but I guess not… and now I’m scared for other schools

What school at Wash U did you apply to? Some are much more competitive admissions wise than others. Also, what was your reason for wanting to transfer to Wash U? Did they have a supplement, and if so what did you say in it?

That had to be it, the essay because your stats are great. I think they wanted a specific one for more interest? Since there was no supplement I think they wanted interest in the CA one.

Also remember this is the WUSTL that waitlisted like everyone last year and competition was incredibly fierce for this school. Maybe it continued this year for transfer admissions.

Its not all about stats. Essays and teacher recommendation play a huge part as well. Sorry about your rejection :/

yeah oh well…I applied to college of arts + sciences…

Do you guys think I still have a shot at the others? And that Washu was just a fluke?

I think ur spec is not the factor of rejection. probably because of the general essay or recommendation sth… washu should have had a supplement essay, though… :(

I wouldn’t totally freak out, it could just be that they didn’t have room in your dept, or they had already reached their max for transfers period, or a number of reasons. Don’t forget that the economy is playing a factor in school’s decisions too…Wash U is good for financial aid, but they are need aware and don’t have as big an endowment as their peer institutions.

Sorry to hear that, good luck with the other schools!! It truly could have been anything, I would apply to some more safety schools just to be sure, as all the ones you applied to are pretty competitive. This depends on how badly you want to transfer from your current school though.

i am really sorry to hear that, and really surprised too. washu is supposed to be xfer firendly, and your stats would’ve have made you a lock. how were your ECs? and the recs/essay? did you make it washu specific or just why transfer?

That must have been it. If there were no other essays provided and the common app essay was the only essay opportunity you had, then you had to show at least a small amount of interest in WashU specifically.

Also, did you call or email the admissions office to make sure they recieved ALL of your materials? Some schools will just reject you because they don’t have all the things they need and won’t even tell you about it (happened for my friend for Northwestern even though she got in Princeton).

Should you want to add a safety school, Wake Forest’s deadline has yet to arrive. If you work diligently, I think you could write a good application for them. With your qualifications you’d be a lock, so it would definitely be a good safety school if you feel you need to add one.

Yeah I’m going to apply to Wake Forest and my in state school, Uconn.

I did NOT apply for financial aid either which is the weirdest part. Hopefully it is just a fluke.

when did you sent your application? I receive their email saying my decision letter will come within a month. You make me so worry :(

i sent mine in about february 25th and heard back march 21st

OMG your stats are so great Wnec. I don’t know why they reject you. Did they give you a reason or you care to ask them? It’s so weird.

do you think I should ask them?
I now found out that Middlebury is not accepting fall 2010 transfers…great.
