I recieved a letter that states that my file is complete and I am fully qualified. It also states that they are unable to offer me admission until I recieve a nomination which can take 4-6 weeks to process. I have not completed all of my Congressional interviews. What do I do next?

You can prepare for your nomination interviews. Other than that, there is not much to do but wait...and update your file if anything changes.
This is the hardest part for most candidates. Good luck!

I might even consider bringing a copy of the letter to the MOC interviews. It couldn't hurt.

i was also fully qualified and recieved a nomination to west point. How does this affect my chances? I still havent even had my interview for west point

I'm assuming you got the Presidential Nomination. If that's the case and everything is done, you may get an appointment in a couple of weeks. But don't be surprised if you have to wait until March like most people when the majority of appointments are given.

i got nominated by my congressman

"i was also fully qualified and recieved a nomination to west point. How does this affect my chances?"

USMA Admissions: More Info: Class Profile: 2008
Looking at last years class profile, 10838 candidates opened files, 3746 were nominated, 2039 were qualified, and 1305 were admitted.
Good luck!

I am in the same situation bc328. I received a nomination from my congressman and I will also be interviewing with one of my senators early January. Today I received a letter stating that I was fully qualified and the Military Academy will be waiting for my nominations to arrive within the next 4-6 weeks.

What state do you live in? Have you received any new information?

New York. Havent heard anything lately i keep waiting for my interview with west point hoping it will happen sooner rather then later

Same. I'm from North Carolina. I've read the facts about USMA and it's pretty amazing to see how far we've gotten. It's been a great experience and I hope we both receive appointments.

Hoping they come sooner as well, but I guess we've gotten used to the waiting. Good Luck.

Rambosolos....Are you interviewing with Burr on the 5th?

It is one day in early January. I have yet to receive an actual time to go in. Are you applying to West Point also?

so is it mandatory to have an interview with a MALO for the application proccess or do not all candidates get interviewed?

West Point likes you to be interviewed. MALO's must be officers and most are reservists - depending on what area you are in.
With the war they are having a hard time in some areas - a lot of MALO's have been called up.

You can get an appointment without the "interview". My daughter's original MALO was called up and she had only a phone interview with another MALO - after her admissions officer called and asked if she would be interested in a "Civil prep" scholarship - yeah a little backwards. Her interview wasn't really an interview - in the strict sense of the word - just a conversation about West Point and the civil prep program.

I see you are fully qualified with a nomination - I certainly think it would be proper for you to either email or call your MALO - touch base and let that person know you are waiting for/hoping for an appointment.

USMA usually requires competitive candidates to be interviewed. Interviews are usually done by MAARs (military academy admissions reps, who can be civilians), MALOs, SLS squad leaders, or athletic staff (recruited athletes).

How can I find out who my MALO is?

Call or e-mail WP admissions and ask them.

bc328,

How did your interview go? I finished up my interview with Senator Burr's committee and I was lucky enough to receive a nomination. So far I have two.

During a recent conversation I found out we should be expecting a decision by April. I had hoped for mid-february but I understand they have a lot of back-logging due to SLS apps. and incoming nomination lists.

im having my west point interview tommorow as long as its not snowed out. My nomination interview i thought went very well. This waitings killing me though i check dodmerb like 10 times a day for status updates and all

Hate to break it to you, but the dodmerb site wasn't updated for WP until after the appointment was at our house! It was for Navy, but not WP...so they must submit in a different format. Take a deep breath!! You'll survive!
