so, anyone gonna spill the beans? what kinds of scholarships did you get?

i got the 3000 dean's scholarship.

Have march 16th decisions been sent? My daughter hasn't heard anything yet.

i got the $10,000 a year ( 40,000 4 years) with additional $500 a year, woodrow scholar thing. idk, i'm leaning more towards pittsburgh anyway.

surfbilla
have you visited yet? thats a great scholarship offer. do you know it comes with a reduced in state tuition rate?

I am from Massachusetts and just recieved my financial aid package today.
I recieved the woodrow scholarship.
I was wondering how well this compares to UMASS Amherst from which i recieved the adams free tuition scholarship, a 5,000 annual community scholarship, and a 1,000 ernst and young scholarship. This should come out to 10,000 my freshman year and 11,000 every year after that.

My decision is based on these two schools and possibly northeastern if their package even compares to these (i doubt it).
any ideas to which school i should think about?

DD received the McCissick(?) yesterday--$2000/year plus the OOS waiver. Her instate option(with her large merit scholarship) is still far less expensive and probably the way she'll have to go. It's a bit scary to commit to an OOS school when we know that the issues the state is having right now. We'll have to look at the numbers again, but I think we'll have to cross this off the list.

i visited in october, and wasn't really considering the school, but now my mother wants me to consider it. I'm not sure about the tuition waver thing, but my tuition would come out to be about $10,000 oos.

So I've heard that if you get a 1250/1600 on the SAT, you get instate tuition if you're OOS. Is this true, and is this regardless of whether or not you get a scholarship?

I think you have to get a scholarship to get the out of state waiver.

I got the dean's $3000 a year, but I would also get national merit and palmetto fellows so it would be covered.

some of my friends got their acceptance letters last Sat. Mar 7th and I and some others haven't received them yet....is that a bad thing?

I'm wondering the same thing. Anyone know?

Yeah me too, I know I have better stats than most of my friends that already got theirs but I called USC admissions and they said my decision was in the system just not mailed yet and the lady had it mailed for me. Kinda worried...

admissions director's blog (on the website) states all decisions will be mailed by this Friday March 13th.
Capstone invitations will follow next week.
Good luck to all!

Cathymee do you mind posting a link to that blog. I can't seem to find it. (I blame my blondeness or I'm just technically retarded ..sorry)..probably both :-)

wahine
I'm as "blond" as you... I dont know how to link from here but it is: http:// uscbloggers.com/allblogs.php
the blog you are looking for is from the Admissions Director Scott Verzyl called "From the Directors Chair" its towards the bottom
if that doesnt work its at USC Undergraduate Admissions Home on the left side of that page is a box with a picture.. saying admissions blogs...click on that and it takes you to the page with the blogs. most are inactive..they haven't replaced the student bloggers in a year for some reason.. but Scotts blog is current
hope that helps!!!

Thanks found it. :-)

Hi All,
I'm OOS and received the McKissick Scholars Award of $2,000 with 29 ACT and 3.98 GPA.
This is great, since it's in-state tuition.
I'm nervous about the 2 hr. plane ride from home. Anyone else feel that way? I have friends that will be a 6 hr. car ride from home, and they think that's way better. Not sure about that. Any thoughts, and also anyone going to the April 4th Scholar's Day?
Oh, by the way, I called yesterday regarding Capstone, and was told final acceptances will go out Sunday and Capstone notification after that.

Dont worry about the plane ride, mines around 2 1/2 home so its not too bad and Ive found it a good way to get a little work done on your way home to visit family

If I get in, I'm from RI so its about a 2.5 / 3 hr. plane ride, 18 hr drive so don't worry too much about it, I'm not! congrats on your scholarship!
