***GEORGETOWN 2020 WAITLIST THREAD***

I thought they were letting everyone know by May 15th? I really don’t want to wait until the end of June :frowning:

he’s prob on the extended waitlist

So basically if we haven’t gotten a call yet we’re probably not getting off the waitlist… Is that what I’m gathering from all of this?

@DREwwwwww Eh. Probably. I did not know that before. Then I don’t think I have a good chance to be admitted.

@briggs23 judging from past threads that seemed to be the case but things could be different this year because in past threads dozens of people on the thread got calls letting them off but this year we only know of one person so they could be doing things a little differently this year. I have a friend who is part of GAAP and she said that she didn’t know how people were being notified but that she knew for sure that about 100 people were being let off this year

不一定

Did anyone get letters in the mail today?

@NickDS, did your friend from GAAP tell you what Georgetown’s yield was this year? And, did she tell you which of the four colleges had room for waitlist students? Finally, are you 100% sure your friend isn’t fabricating numbers and/or just passing along hearsay?

^no she didn’t know yield or what schools. she said that gaap was told that about 100 students would be accepted off the wait list. she has no reason to make it up

Guys I’m thinking since the 15 is a Sunday this year, more calls may go out Saturday. The office is open 9-1 so who knows. Hope you all are okay if things don’t turn out great for us with Georgetown, because they will turn out well wherever we go. Remember, there is always grad school and the possibility of transferring that is always there! Just wondering, is anybody on here on any other waitlists?? Curious to see how other schools handle theirs

@bretts916 Yes I’m on the waitlist at Haverford, too. They said they’d decide around mid May but that’s about all I know.

I was accepted off the waitlist to the school of nursing and health studies on Monday!

@erlervyer , CONGRATULATIONS! How did you find out about your acceptance to NHS on Monday? That is the school I have applied to as well :). Any chance you know how many other spots are still open and available?

That is so awesome! Congrats! @erlervyer

Congrats! if anyone else has heard please post on this forum

They called my house during the day, but I wasn’t home so I called back the next day and talked to the admissions officer. She told me there was a “handful” of people they could accept off the waitlist - she didn’t give me an exact number- and I was one of them! Then she told me my financial aid info over the phone (which was extremely generous!!!) and I had to call back the next day (Wednesday) with my decision. I was not expecting it at all! Good luck to everybody still waiting!

@erlervyer Can I ask you if it was your Regional Admissions Counselor, or the Assistant Director of Admissions from the nursing school who called? Also, when you say a “handful” would be offered a spot, did she mean a handful from just Nursing and Health Studies or from all other schools at Georgetown included? Finally, did you send in any supplemental materials or have regular correspondence with your admissions counselor? Thank you so much for your insights and congratulations again!

I spoke with them on the phone and they said no calls have been made with decisions. the only calls that have been made were calls with clarifying questions such as if you’re still interested in remaining on the waitlist. decisions are solely by mail and will be sent out “this weekend” so most likely today and we will receive them Monday or Tuesday.

Hey guys my mom talked to the office this week. The ones who get phone calls are time sensitive. Otherwise, any acceptance through the mail has till June 1 to accept

@lineleader who did you speak with that said decisions are only being sent through mail and not phone call? That statement is inconsistent with others on here saying that they received phone calls with offers of admission/ financial aid. I’m getting more confused by the hour
