@JBStillFlying I don’t think so, so he probably should call. Will he be home before 5? If not, it’s fine you can call just tell them my son won’t be home until after business hours and he asked me to check for him. I’m overly cautious with these things, but if in reality he’s not getting home until after they close, what else can you do? Good luck!!
I applied to the Georgetown College, and was admitted EA. I had an IB prediction of a 32! I had an ACT superscore of 34 (over two tests ), SAT subject tests of 770 in Physics, 740 in Maths 1, and 720 in Spanish. I think that my extra curriculars, and my story were the things that got me into the school. I began a mental health conference at my school… please respond if anyone wants further info
^@TKNOD1D - your stats didn’t hurt either. S19 has similar grades and test scores and his SAT was a one-and-done. Applying to GC RD. Interview this weekend although not sure how much that tips the scale if at all. He’s interested in Gov. so hopefully will be able to distinguish himself among the thousands of others indicating the same interest. How about you?
@TINODID Georgetown doesn’t superscore ACT, I’m curious what was your highest composite from a single sitting? I think your subject tests helped you…the fact that you had 3 (not everyone does for EA) subject tests in the 700’s is great. I’m sure your EC’s were great, too as I think they truly look at the whole package.
Does getting an interview mean anything or is that the product of which city you live in and whether there are enough local alums to provide interviews?
Here is the FAQ on interviews:
“All first-year applicants are required to have an interview unless it is not possible to assign the interview based on geographic area. Interviews are available in most parts of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and in many foreign countries. The interview need not be completed prior to the application deadline, but it should be done as soon as possible after the assignment has been received. For transfer students, the interview is optional.”
GTown sends the notice to the applicants and encourages you to reach out. If you haven’t received anything so far it could be that they don’t have interviewers available in your area (yet). Also, my son applied in Aug. or Sept. and only received notice a few weeks ago around the time that they released the REA decisions.
Hi. I just wanted to know what time the deadline is on the 10th for the regular decision application. Is it 11:59 pm?
Not clear. But I would submit well before it can be interpreted as after Jan. 10. They appear to be strict. Teachers and counselors are given extra time, however.
Good news to those of you accepted to or applying to MSB at Georgetown. They announced yesterday that they are changing/lightening up on the curve. Essentially they will be recentering at a 3.5 (had been a 3.3) and are going to allow more students to get A’s, and also allow the professors more discretion in administering the curve altogether (I think it’s optional now?). They made the change based on consistent student feedback that having the curve made things less collaborative and more competitive as it related to employment opportunities and having to compete with other kids from Georgetown that aren’t subjected to a curve, as well as other students in other colleges without a curve. I think this was a good move.
Do you happen to have a link?
Hi guys. I just submitted my Georgetown RD app and I’m wondering how the interview works. It seems like I can’t request an interview, and the interview website says that RD applicants may not receive interviews until November…It’s January, and I’m worried that I missed a request deadline or something of the sorts. Can anyone please help? Thanks!
Hey everybody! My counselor just told me that Georgetown was allowing her to add more info into her recommendation. Has anyone else received this same news? Assuming it means I’m on the border and they need more info… ?
^ Well, given that the application deadline hasn’t quite passed yet, it can also mean that she’s adding the mid-year report or other needed materials. Did you request the mid-year yet? They might be asking all the counselors just to add that anyway. The students are supposed to request it as the third counselor/teacher report that’s required but if everyone else is like my son, that request was just made last night (because who’s going to remember to do it LOL).
@La petite crise cardiaque: they will contact you with instructions for reaching out to your interviewer. Hold tight. They want everyone to interview and will attempt to make that happen. My son received his info. in December (he’s RD) because his application went to them in early August. For those who just got around to sending in the Application and fee, they might still be matching you to an interviewer.
@college2744 and @JBStillFlying , that’s what I have been wondering. How do deferred EA students send their first semester grades? Will Georgetown send some sort of link to the counselors automatically? If students are supposed to initiate, will the counselors know how to send them, since it’s not common app and I believe everythign else to this point has been forms/links sent by Georgetown? Thanks!
@TS0104 The instructions on your application supplement direct you to send that third report request to your counselor. You check the box for “mid year report”. Go to the Recommendation Request page (link is provided on the same page as your application checklist) and scroll to the bottom.
So I accidentally made a spelling error or two on one of the short essays. So I submitted a request to make an application change. Does anyone know if GU allows applicants to make edits to essays for the purpose of correcting any spelling/grammar errors?
When you submit your application you agree to acknowledge that it can’t be altered once submitted. The application change would be to update your application with important information.
Most likely they don’t ding applicants for minor spelling infractions. Put down your application and go read something that you’ve been putting off while your apps were in process.
When are the decisions expected?
