I was admitted EA, and I had a fairly large mistake in my app. One of my app essays cut off at the end, so I submitted the application update to clear it up. So they most likely don´t hold small mistakes against you too much (everyone is human).
@collegemomjam I saw one of your earlier posts and wondered if your daughter ended up going to Georgetown? And if so, how is it going for her?
@Trooper9 yes she did and she LOVES it. Her expectations were high, but it still exceeded her expectations. Feel free to private message me any questions. But she loves all aspects…the classes/profs, friends, location (amazing, I wish I could live there!), and she already has an amazing internship lined up for summer and she’s only a sophomore. (Also has a great internship now…a different one she started back in September). Georgetown was definitely the best choice for her!
When is Gtown FA coming?
does anyone know when regular decision results come out?
Website says April 1. I think that means when you should get your letter, hopefully not when they send them out.
When I applied EA, they gave a particular date for when the letters were supposed to arrive, but the letter ended up coming a few days later. If you call their admissions office on the day of release (which I did), they can give you your decision over the phone. You only need your name and birth date, if I recall correctly.
does the size of the envelope indicate whether you got in or not? anyone know?
Last year I believe that admitted students envelope costs $.66 while deferred or waitlisted costs $.47. So people were able to check before it came in mail
Based on last year’s thread, it looks like regular decisions were mailed out on Friday evening March 23rd and the first recipients got their letters on Monday March 26th. As in past years, for the EA Class of 2023, acceptances were in envelopes with .68 cent postage and deferrals were in envelopes with .44 cent postage.
@RFM1617 do you know where the people who received it on march 26th were living? I live in CA
@kerlykerls I looked back at the thread and see “Bay Area” and “NorCal” … here you go: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/1997936-georgetown-2022-applicants-discussion-p36.html
omg thank you so much! @RFM1617
@rshrawg i was just wondering how students were able to check how much their envelope cost before it came in the mail?
@ksmith888 USPS informed delivery. You create an account and can see any postage coming your way as well as its cost.
@rshrawg thank you!
Does anyone know when the GAAP weekends will be for RD accepted students?
My DS started an application to Georgetown (Georgetown College) RD just before the deadline this last January, had his counselor and teacher recommendations sent in, along with his SAT score, but then changed his mind and never completed the writing prompts. He received an email a week later telling him if he is still considering Georgetown he needs to finish the requirements for the application by Jan. 21, otherwise Georgetown will assume he’s no longer interested and will remove his application. He decided to take no action and allow the application to be removed from the database. Then just this week, Georgetown admissions sent him another email telling him, again, his application is incomplete and if he still wants application to be considered for fall 2019 he needs to complete the application by March 15.
Not sure if this is a sign Georgetown admissions thinks he’d be a great fit at the school and is pushing hard for him to ultimately attend, or is this a ploy to get my DS to finish the application to increase the pool of applicants for ranking purposes? He’s not a recruited athlete, and his grades and test scores are probably on par with most applicants of this school, but he is a URM and resides in an underrepresented state.
I know it sounds flattering @NMParent000079 but most likely an automated response , Georgetown doesn’t need to work that hard to recruit.
I agree. Just thought it was strange since he also didn’t complete applications for UPenn and Duke, and those schools haven’t reached out to him since the beginning of January.
