is it true that you can call georgetown on the day they mail out envelopes (so tomorrow) and they will tell you your decision over the phone? Please let me know
Yes, please let us know!
At least for Early Action, you could call if you hadn’t recieved your letter, but only if it was after the day that decisions were formally supposed to be released, so after December 15th. However, since they’re using the portals for the first time this year, I doubt you can call and recieve your decision unless it’s after 5 pm on Saturday, the formal date and time they’re supposed to be released, and only if for some reason your portal isn’t working.
@kcgeorgetown thanks! do you think it would be worth it to try to call?
Soooo nervous. Georgetown has been my dream for so long. Good luck everyone.
Also, just curious, does anyone know how “generous” Georgetown is with financial aid? I’ve heard from some EA people that GT’s financial aid was disappointing.
Live in central NJ. Do you think informed delivery can show up for me Thursday morning?
@qwxmntklp Honestly I don’t think they’d be able to tell you anything over the phone so I personally wouldn’t try calling yet. But if you want to, go for it! You never know
@qwxmntklp given it comes on the portal, I wouldn’t call. When I applied EA I found out over the phone since it took well over a week for the letter to arrive in SoCal (supposedly the weather of the midwest prevented it from hitting the west coast in a reasonable timeframe). If you’re located on the East Coast I would maybe even expect the letter before Saturday, but if all else fails then for sure just stick to the portal. Given my location on the other side of the country, I would be surprised if the letter arrived by next Monday LOL
@hg0987 Best way to check this information for any college is seeing their common dataset.

If I look in 2017-18 (that is what available in their web site).
105M scholarships/grants
738 got need based aid
Out of 1597 students, 250 got non-need based scholarships but they did not report how much average
102 athletes got an average 20K of non-need based aid/scholarship
Overall they seems to give reasonable money
Are financial aid packages mailed out in the same letter as acceptances? If not, when should accepted students expect to hear back about financial aid?
Does anyone have any idea how/when international students are hearing back? I have a close friend who applied EA and told me that she received her notification in an emailed letter around the same time letters were mailed out for domestic students. That would mean that international students should be getting their notifications today if RD follows the trend of EA. However, I called admissions to ask, and they said “by April 1st.” I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to make of that, especially as portals are updated on the 30th. Fingers crossed that we hear back today!
Are finaid letters also being mailed out this week? are they separately mailed?
Follow up update for international students from my last comment: I asked two of my EA friends about this and when they called on mailing day back in December about when their decisions would be released, the admissions office also didn’t give them concrete answers. Apparently the people who pick up the phones aren’t supposed to be telling us, but people are pretty confident that we’ll find out at around 5pm EST today (March 27th) by email.
Someone on Reddit posted “Checked my informed delivery and there’s a letter from Georgetown. I’ve heard that the acceptance letter is in a normal-sized envelope as well as the rejection so wish me luck!!! I’m wishing everyone else luck today too!!! Btw I live in NJ”…
but arent they mailing it out today?
@max2737 Yeah I saw that too but their post should be disregarded. They commented and said they’re just recieving a letter from DC, and it doesn’t say Georgetown on the scanned photo. They’ll be mailed this afternoon and the soonest anyone will ever see a decision is tomorrow.
what time can we check informed delivery?
When I asked Georgetown about financial aid verifications a few months ago, they said that they only ask for verifications from accepted applicants.
Therefore, I’d guess that financial aid will come out a bit later? Since they’re probably going to ask most accepted applicants for additional documentation?
Do u think they are going to post on social media that they sent the letters out today?
most likely @CaptainBeckett ! they have posted for EA and RD the past several years
