How do you find the cost of the package/incoming mail?
@EashB354 through informed delivery on the USPS website. It’s scans your mail for the incoming day and emails a photo of them to you. You can check out how much the letter cost by the red stamp on the right on the letter.
Someone mentioned the cost of postage may be higher than the older expectation of
A = $.68
D = $.44
So an approx to the above numbers shouldn’t come as a surprise…
I usually get informed delivery email around 8-830 am
My informed delivery seems to only scan junk mail. Just my luck!
how does informed delivery work? we can track it right?
I don’t think internationals are getting an email today. I applied EA and they emailed us on December 15th, two days after they sent out the letters, but they notified us way in advance that we would be hearing back on the 15th. My guess is that we will get an email on the 30th or they won’t even email us at all, since they will be posting decisions on the portal. Good luck to everyone!
@Gina115 no you can’t track, you only get to see what mail is coming in for a day. As a result, when the letter reached the post office, on the day it will be delivered to you by them you will get the email with the photo of the letter.
Awesome tool! You get a picture sent to your email of all mail that will be delivered to your mailbox that day. Mine comes at 7 am each morning.
I see. Thank you.
I’m reading through all the old posts on this thread from EA, and it’s not making me feel great abt the decision I’m about to get this week. Does anyone have an idea whether Georgetown weighs GPA or test scores higher?
I have a 1570 sat (740,750,680 for sat IIs)
And a 90ish average with 7 APs
I applied to SFS and I haven’t seen anyone posting stats in this thread with below a 3.9 who was accepted.
I really hate “chance me” posts, but if anyone has heard of or is someone who has been admitted with a gpa like mine - it would put me a little bit more at ease
@greenfinger It really depends…Do you have a hook? Are you an URM, legacy, recruited athlete, first generation? Are you world class in something? Do you go to a feeder school (Like Andover, Choate, St. Paul’s, Regis)? If so, your odds go way, way, way up.
You have a great SAT and solid AP’s. Your SAT 2’s are good, though you will be competing with some with all high 700’s to 3x800. Your average is on the low side without a hook like one of the above.
Anyway, we will all find out soon enough. Best of luck everyone!
Hey guys. I checked at my job yesterday (we do a lot of postage stuff) and the current postage prices for those weights are 50 cents and 65 cents. Not really sure why USPS adjusted them this way but that is what I would expect. Hope that helps!
do you guys think the mail will reach New York tomorrow?
Did they announce that they mailed the letters today on social media?
@artsydragon For EA they mailed the letters on a Thursday and I got mine in the NYC suburbs on Saturday. I think that we will likely get letters in NY on Friday as long as they are mailed today.
@MrRobot2018 thanks for the response! So quick too!
Honestly, I don’t think anything I’ve got counts as a hook. I’m pretty average.
Only things I can think of are I’m an elected Vice President of an organization’s state board, was an officer on that same organization’s board for my region, a state senator I worked for wrote me a letter of rec (not much pull there, I know I’m competing w people with letters from cabinet secretaries), and I started an environmental club
There’s not much there that’s a “wow”
Not legacy, I’m a white girl, I go to an average public school, and both of my parents went to college
The odds don’t seem to be looking too good.
We will have to wait and see
@artsydragon For 5 boroughs of NYC I think Friday is safe and tomorrow is a possibility. Depends what time they are mailed today.
