Absolutely no clue @lexluther96
Honestly I find GU’s application process extremely dated.
@lexluther96 I sent it to…(let me find it)…guapplication@georgetown.edu
And I’m pretty positive that the decisions will come in by e-mail for transfers; and of course, physical letters for freshmen…
edit: just looked at last years decisions and they were notified by e-mail and then a letter that followed; seems like acceptances started going out late April at the earliest…lets hope we hear in April.
The reason I am applying to transfer is that my college isn’t challenging enough. I mean this in a multitude of ways. The classes, the other students, and that the campus is close to my home town. I feel I would be challenged more at all the colleges I am applying to.
Reason I applied to Georgetown specifically is mostly because of location. I love politics and think the opportunity to intern in political world would give me a leg up upon graduation. Also I love combo of urban environment and still having an actual campus. Plus the campus seems more urban then, a Vanderbilt for example. Meaning the actual campus is more compact, which I like because I’m a metro maniac.
On another note. I do agree that Georgetowns app process is kind of date. On another another note, wouldn’t it be amazing if common app was used by all colleges for the whole process? I mean for checking on your application and stuff. Like imagine if all the portals for your applications were on common app. It would be amazing and more efficient.
@Robinyoursoul I just sent mine. Thank you for finding that! Were you interviewed by an alumnus? I was, but I’m not sure if everyone got the opportunity.
@lexluther96 no problem! I was; I had my interview at the very beginning of March. I received the email to set up an interview even before I had the application submitted. I think it went pretty well!
@Robinyoursoul Me too actually! I don’t think as many students apply to Gtown because of the separate application process, so that’s why transfer students are interviewed. Did any other schools request an interview?
I got in with RD!!!
Well, took to long for anyone to see my above comment - April Fool’s!
Now that RD’s are out, good luck to everyone hoping for a spot as a transfer. Anyone want to guess when they’ll start sending out transfer decisions?
@lexluther96: I only applied to two other schools besides Georgetown and they did not do the interview process. Honestly, I pictured the interviews for Georgetown to be more formal when I started researching the school - then again, I’m very appreciative of how it was done and how it went
@Robinyoursoul Mine was so casual! I showed up dressed in the outfit I wear to debate tournaments and my interviewer was in jeans and sneakers. I mean we’re also in California, so that might explain it, but I felt way overdressed. Waaay more casual than I’d anticipated!
@Robinyoursoul …also what’s RD? And do you know when they start notifying transfers?
@lexluther96
Same here! I went in wearing a nice pair of denim jeans/boots/collared shirt and she was pretty casual, I’m just glad that I didn’t over dress - we met at a Starbucks here near Georgetown.
RD just means regular decisions, freshman applicants. Well, reading last years transfer thread, the first decision from someone on college confidential came at on April 29th; some people waited to hear their decisions after being waitlisted all the way into July…ouch. I’m assuming we’ll start hearing some word about decisions in late April/Early May.
Does anyone else continually reread their transfer essay? lol
@Robinyoursoul I burned those things lol
@HopefullyIGetIn hahah what was wrong with them?!
No, nothing-well I hope not lol- I just don’t want to worry about them. Cant change them at this point.
@Robinyoursoul Thanks! I did at first but it stressed me out too much. Can’t do anything about it now! I did catch one mistake though on my UMich app. I wrote “roll” instead of “role” in the activities section LOL. I DON’T KNOW HOW I DID THAT LOLOL. I kept picturing myself as an “executive (bread) roll” loll. Probably sourdough. I got in anyway though!
@lexluther96 wow…that is amazing LOL. I’m sure the folks over at UMich had a pretty good laugh reading it. Simple mistake to make!
Anyone received an e-mail after this one? I never got anything back... even after contacting them multiple times.

@MysteriousDude Not at all; when did you get that email?
A little before the deadline. So I shouldn’t be worried? No interview, no response to my e-mails, nothing. I assume they’re still dealing with RD peak time. I have no idea if my application file is complete or not because there’s no way to check. I guess I’ll wait.
@MysteriousDude I know that interviews were contingent on whether or not there’s an alumni association near you. It won’t negatively affect your app if you didn’t get one. I got super lucky – there’s only one alumnus in my area. I figure that the rural areas are less likely to have Gtown alumni or associations. You should try calling though. They’re not as busy as larger schools because not as many students apply. I called a few months ago and their power shut off mid phone call so I had to call again an hour later, and the lady who answered the phone knew who I was even though I had been talking to someone else. They also answer calls almost immediately. It’s a lot more personal than larger schools!
