Does anyone know when we’re supposed to get decisions?
@transferguy163 It looks like they announce decisions on June 1 (Source: https://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/transfer)
@transferguy163 I was just reading last year’s thread and it looks like people got decisions on May 26, so may June 1 is tentative? (http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/1927712-georgetown-fall-2017-transfer-p47.html)
Thank you! I applied to the college as a Government major! I was going to apply SFS but figured it might be harder to get in that way. What about you?
Kids started to hear late April last year, and it continued until late May.
@larbear Oh cool! I applied for international political economy in SFS so I’m just a bundle of nerves :,)
@kkriley1027 Thank you! Hopefully we’ll all hear soon. Do you know if they release decisions in accordance to acceptances/rejections (ie: the earlier you hear, the more likely you are to be accepted etc)?
@avocadough Woah, thats a great major! I know, I’m a bundle of nerves as well ¨̮ but I wish you the very best and hope you do get in!
That is how it appeared last year when you read through the thread. However, there very much were students who were accepted the last week of release, etc. I would recommend reading the thread. There also seemed to be a tendency of certain majors hearing at certain times too.
@larbear Aw thank you so much! I sincerely wish the same for you!! Hopefully we’ll see each other on campus this Fall :-SS
@kkriley1027 Ooh okay, I will for sure check it out! Thanks Fingers crossed for us all
Are u transferring from the heights to Georgetown? I know you worked harder than anyone to get that last spot I recall.
So, for anyone willing to share, what is it that is drawing you all to want to transfer out of your current university to attend Georgetown? My son is deciding between schools right now and I’d love to hear what causes students to seek out a transfer. What is/was lacking in your first year that has you looking? Is it a specific major? General fit? Thank you in advance to anyone willing to share. Feel free to PM if that would be more comfortable.
does anyone know how transfers actually receive their decisions? will we get mail?
@msport email and in the promotion tab
What is the promotion tab?

I feel like a big fish at community college and I am eager to connect with like-minded students. Also, my community college only provides 2 (fairly basic) economic classes, which isn’t ideal since I am an economics major.
Although I have definitely made the most of my year here by seizing opportunities (founding a club, joining student government, participating in research conferences, organizing a TED talk, acquiring an internship), there seems to be a cap on the amount of value I can extract from each opportunity because I am operating well above the community college standard. It struck me that I am without peers that I can turn to for advice. Rather, others always turn to me for advice. While it is great to feel valued within the community, I want to meet people of my own age that I can look up and admire in the same way others are looking up to me. So at risk of sounding conceited, it is somewhat lonely at the top.
That being said, I don’t think anyone is too good for community college. It was the best decisions of my life. But for now, I believe I will best be able to develop and grow at Georgetown if given the opportunity to attend next year.
@VAMom23 I’m planning to transfer next semester given the opportunity. I’m an engineering major at UMD right now. Although the engineering program is extremely prestigious and highly ranked at UMD, Georgetown has always been number 1. It’s my ultimate dream school, if you get what I mean :). I applied initially as a senior but was deffered and rejected. Doesn’t hurt to try again right?
@VAMom23 I currently go to my state school, but I have been planning on transferring out all year. It’s just not a great fit for me at all. I visited a friend at Georgetown and absolutely fell in LOVE. I could go on and on about what makes Georgetown so amazing, but to keep it short I just really felt a sense of belonging there. Given the odds, I’m sure it’s not very probable I’ll get accepted, but I thought I would give it a shot anyways!
