I’m from MD, applied for MSB, was deferred. I need a few advices on other apps, can anyone help? Thanks!
I know people from my school with similar stats who got into Carnegie Mellon, so I can probably try a few other schools along that level. Up to now, I’ve only sent in apps for Gtown and College Park. But I’m looking for the schools with urban settings (for convenient internships), so a lot of good schools like Emory wouldn’t be suitable for me. For studying in the US, I also prefer to stay close to home for family reasons. I’m from a middle class family, so right now I don’t see any better choice besides College Park - in-state tuition wouldn’t be a pain, it’s close to the city and has a pretty good business school.
I’m also considering to take a year off for studying or traveling in Europe. Or I might apply for unis in the UK. But I don’t know much about UK schools - can anyone suggest a few urban schools between the level of College Park to Georgetown?
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it :)

look at this hostility no wonder you got deferred

unfortunately i do not have race on my side

It’s Cornell’s restriction BTW.

Georgetown isn’t Single Choice.

Btw, no letter in Ohio :(

If you have gotten a letter, please consider posting your stats at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/826691-stats-georgetown-ea-decisions-class-2014-a.html so the rest of us can get a sense of where we stand.

Thanks!

Accepted! So excited!!!

Congrats Romanticism!

Also donutman, youre a jerk. It’s just a college forum, jesus christ.

Thanks jamiroquai! I was very happy to read the acceptance letter.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted today!
sigh I wish my life was more like that of Harry Potter where there is generally “no post on Sundays” except for that one (hopefully) acceptance letter that somehow manages to arrive.

Can someone please post the text of the acceptance letter? Greatly appreciated.

Will post the text of the acceptance letter soon.

Btw., I got in!!

Thanks Matty. Congratulations! I’ll most probably find out Monday being in the western Pennsylvania area.

Dear Mr./Ms. XYZ:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has voted to accept your application for admission to Georgetown University. I am happy to offer you a place in the first-year class for the fall of 2010.

You are to be congratulated on the distinction of being accepted under the Early Action program. Admission was especially competitive as offers were extended only to those candidates whose extraordinary academic and personal accomplishments ensured they would be admitted regardless of the strength of the remaining applicant pool. This year, the Committee on Admissions considered over 6,100 applications, but limited the number of acceptances to approximately 20% of those who applied.

Georgetown does not require Early Action candidates to confirm their enrollment immediately. You must observe the Candidates’ Reply Date if May 1, a common deadline for all applicants, but I do hope that we will hear from you as soon as your decision is certain. When you have reached your decision. please return the enclosed enrollment agreement form together with the required nonrefundable deposit to confirm your place. Please read carefully the enclosed details for more information regarding your enrollment. I also encourage you to visit the accepted student website at http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/ZZYYXX (should not disclose this - my note) for the most current updates about campus activities.

I am pleased to speak on behalf of the entire Georgetown community in extending to you this offer of admission. I look forward to welcoming you to the University as a member of the Class of 2014.

Sincerely,
Charles A. Deacon
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

Dufourspitze,

“Congrats to everyone who was accepted today!

@dufourspitze

I came onto the thread to post literally the exact same thing hahaha
I hope we both get it, just because you like Harry Potter :)

if I get deferred, do you guys think that I could send in another essay? or would that be too much of a hassle for admissions officers to read?

hey everyone, i’ve been stalking this thread forever but i’m just joining in now
from northern new jersey, so obviously no letter
do you think monday is more likely than tuesday?

and poohbear212, i don’t really think another essay could hurt you, i think if anything it’d just show how much you want to go there

congrats to everyone who got in!!

Is the acceptance in a letter…regular envelope of legal size? Wondered if it says anything on the outside…

^ I heard that it’s a regular size envelope and it was mentioned that the paper is blue or something. I am not sure, all I know is that the envelope is not a big, fat envelope everyone is usually expecting.
