really?? does Georgetown really like people in Model UN, cuz i got many best delegate awards at conferences including the U of Chicago Conference??

im just looking for some ray of hope to distract me from thinking about my less than stellar GPA

MUN isn’t going to make you a better candidate than someone who is super involved in another activity, but an admin. officer there told me that about half of students have beein involved in MUN, and the other half did Mock Trial.

Hey guys… I’ve been following this but I haven’t posted yet. I’m all the way in Arizona so who knows when I’ll get my letter. Hopefully Tuesday? You were talking about it being easier to get in from the northeast. Does anyone have any idea about the southwest? Thanks! And good luck to everyone!

since this thread is already so long, when people get decisions, could they post it on the thread Romanticism did? It would be easier to go through the stats without 28 pages of freak outs.

oh and another question…my counselor told me that GU called for my first quarter grades last week or something. Does anyone know what this might mean? It was like… last friday or last monday or something…Any ideas? I was hoping it was a good sign but i started to shoot myself down because i didn’t want to be crushed later, because as we all know GU is so competitive and so many good people have been deferred :(

I would suggest to stop over analyzing eveything and getting your hopes up, and just wait a day or two for actual decisions! >< but I do wish you the best of luck!

I have a 1450 in the regular SATs and ok SAT II’s and I’m in the top 5% of my class. But looking at everyone else, that doesnt seem to be enough to get accepted haha does being an Eagle scout help alot you think?

I’m not sure to what extent being an eagle scout helps (although it clearly will help to some degree), but Georgetown does seem to want really impressive EC’s in general. I think that my EC’s and my rank were the two main factors that got me in.

I agree, the overall feel i got when visiting and talking to GU student was that every was was extremely well rounded. every one was an athlete, a genius, and had crazy volunteer hours so I’m hoping i fit the bill…I get my letter tomorrow, its tormenting me

@Chap10, I’m definitely feeling the Tuesday angst, I’m from Arizona too :)

In regards to your question, I got a pamphlet stating the “Geographic Distribution of Enrolling Students” and there were 7 from Arizona, compared to 158 from California, 5 from New Mexico and 15 from Washington (to give you some stats from the West). I think we have decent odds because I have a feeling that not as many people from AZ apply as in other places in the country. Of course, as some states such as South Dakota and Wyoming have 0 students enrolling, I have a feeling geographic location doesn’t matter as much as your merit.

If anybody else wants to know their state’s number of enrolling students, I’d be happy to share as well.

munlover28 – thank you!! We will see what happens! I am sooo nervous. Good luck to everyone! Can people who got in post their stats in that thread that Romanticism posted in?
