I know that this is a pretty silly question, considering I will probz get the letter tomorrow, but…I was born in Minneapolis and now live and go to high school here in Connecticut. Does anyone know which location the Admissions Officers would use in the geographic distribution? I kinda hope Minnesota…there are a lot less Minnesotans applying than Connecticutters, I am sure.

Personally, I think that Georgetown puts a lot of emphasis on ECs. I think that if you have a bit lower standardized test scores, but have great ECs and community service, you will definitely have a chance at getting in. So far, the people who have gotten in have so many ECs.

^ That’s true but it also seems like at least in the early round, a huge part of the decision is based on GPA. I certainly hope my essays, teacher recs, and ECs in some way “make up” for my middle-of-the-road GPA & SATs, but I’m not banking on it. It seems like all the accepted applicants have close to perfect credentials, or a hook of some sort. Goes to show you how much of a crapshoot it is! There are far more qualified applicants than they can accept each year.

jamiroquai, I’m in the exact same boat as you. My test scores and GPA are middle of the road for their traditionally accepted applicant so I’m definitely relying on my essays, ECs, and letters of rec to make me stand out.

I woke up from a super-vivid dream that I got into Georgetown this morning. This is getting weird. I need this damn letter lol.

chorapenese - are you sure? because then in order to have a 4.0 on my scale, i would have had to have gotten a 100 in every class. doesnt 4.0 just mean like an A average or am i seriously misinformed?

eagle2010 and jamiroquai (your name is the name of a music artist i listen to haha)

i’m in the same boat…maybe even more of a long shot with my average-joe-good-but-GU-low/decent-GPA of 3.4 UW (SAT and SATII are lower than most but still barely in their middle 50%). im banking on my EC’s - all of which apply to my major, me being an URM, my very long interview with my interviewer saying she was praying i got in (good rec?), and my exceptional teacher recs (main teacher had to try to edit the font of the rec & letterhead to keep it one page) & essays

i can see myself being deferred but can also see getting lucky with an acceptance…it’s agonizing to wait until tomorrow at the earliest + i get UChicago’s probably tuesday

this is a major distraction from finals too…

164 from MUN =) and yeah i really hope my teacher recs/ ECS make up for my non stellar transcript but i’m not banking on it. All we can do is hope and ^^ haha it is so agonizing and yes, a HUGE distraction from all other work. When do you think NJ will get them? I wish the postal service worked on sundays.

lalalala038,
yeah…a 4.0 is basically all A’s.

honestly, i now realize i can’t convert your 96.88 to a standard GPA without knowing your grades in each class. You could have a 96.88 by having very tight average of 97’s to 95’s or most 100’s with a B or two - the latter case would drastically change your GPA because a 91% and a 100% both = 4 - so an A is an A regardless of percentage, so one B despite many near 100%'s will lower your GPA on the standard scoring method

wellll that seems rather complicated, i suppose ill just hope for the best and that its somewhat equal to all of these perfect or near-perfect GPAs that are being posted!

and i didnt know that MUN meant so much, but thats really lucky considering thats what dominated most of conversation in my interview.

im hoping for my letter tomorrow (in NY)… ahhhh…
