**Georgetown University Offical Transfer Thread 2008**

oh i see, can't keep track of all the different posts...but i do notice you unlike myself and others remain discreet about your info...not asking you to post stats just find it interesting.

katakashi11 , by competitive university...what do you mean? very relative term here.

top 30 us news

Edit:
Actually its fine, you don't need to give me your opinion, I realized that the posting of my stats is pointless. I'll find out in a week or two whether I got in or not. I feel I am somewhat competitive for admission, my reason for posting is probably because I want to be reassured by others that I should get in. If I get rejected I will probably sit for a week wondering why I didn't get in, and that thought will probably be reaffirmed by other people here. If I get accepted the comments on this message board won't be relevant, I will be moving on, setting higher goals for myself. All of your comments are helpful, but being faceless, they are no different than my own thoughts. I have come to realize that for now discourse on this website has become unproductive and a waste of time. Thanks for your help, best of luck to all of you for transfer admission. I'll let you know if I get in.

in that case, your stats look very good to me. did you get an interview?
Also, "finished all prereqs" what do you mean by that...just thought it was random since they were due long ago.

Yeah, I don't know if it's being discrete or superstitious or whatever else I could be. I guess I'm different from other posters. I think I may post after all my decisions.

northerngrl...i totally know what you mean about the greek scene. I joined a sorority and then depledged because I couldn't take the superficiality. I mean I expected some degree of superficiality, but I was shocked at how extreme it is. And I felt like sorority life left no time for me to be serious about my classes...being a closet nerd like you describe just isnt appreciated in the greek scene. So I'm right with you on that :) I don't know how everyone else feels about it, but the lack of greek life at gtown is a draw for me.

sorry northerngrl i really didn't mean to make you mad. =(

Hey guys I have a question about this 'prereq' for MSB. That katakashi poster mentioned something about it any now I am worried.

Are there a series of classes that we were REQUIRED to take before applying?

I have taken Macro/Micro, Statistics, Government but I just saw that on the recommended list I haven't taken Calculus, English Literature, Psychology or Sociology, and General Philosophy.

The list on the MSB transfer applicant website is this and it does say recommended:

Micro Economics
Macro Economics
Calculus
Statistics
English Literature
Psychology or Sociology
History or Government
General Philosophy

Does this mean they are going to throw out my application? I really only have one semester so if I were to be accepted I would be going in as a second-semester freshman. Of course, I would complete those courses that I haven't fulfilled and are necessary during my second semester.

Still waiting to hear as well. I just had my interview last week. I applied to SFS. I'll post as soon as I know anything.
College: George Washington U
HS GPA: 4.0
First Semester: 3.8
SAT: 1390 / 1600
Recommendation: No idea my Chinese teacher was the only one I got to know all that well and she really liked me, but she's from China and her English isn't really all that good.

SyncMaster....i'm assuming that prereqs don't matter too much. Especially given the varying requirements among transfer applicants' schools.

reddavies, yeah i got my rec from my chinese teacher too, except he was an English major in China haha. but i wouldn't be too worried, gtown will see that your teacher has a chinese name and will figureit out lol.

Interesting to see that I'm not the only Wake kid applying for a transfer. There's a noticeable brain-drain going on here, I'd say. It seems the smartest kids here are all desperately trying to escape.

reddavies
- yea same situation here. Only got to know Chinese teacher really well, applying to SFS. good luck!

Why are so many people taking Chinese nowadays? I mean is it because of the emergence of China or actual genuine interest?

hmmm...maybe both...OR! some innate desire to be able to talk to 25% of the people in the world :)

ok so the wait for these letters is killing me. one day at a time.... haha

It's awesome that you guys are taking Chinese. I've been taking French since I was little...At least it sounds pretty.

I'm curious: where else did you guys apply?

I sent in an app to Northwestern, too.

I know the wait's killing me as well. Plus as awful as it is to say I'm in the middle of finals so if I do get accepted I don't have to stress as much. (Only credits transfer and I could easily get B's or A-'s in all my classes doing poorly on my finals.)
I took Chinese for a lot of reasons, but some of them were definitely the new importance of the country and the sheer size of it's population. Plus I already speak German and Spanish and wanted to learn a non-European language.

yea, reddavies, i feel ya. i'm soooo ready for everything to be over. i wish i could just keep my current grades in all my classes and SKIP finals. ugh.

But, if you want to go to grad school, you'll probably need to send transcripts from your current institution. That's what's keeping me going.

Hopefully we'll only have to wait a few more days!
