Muhsan99: Stanford is probably one of the most generous higher-education institutions in the U.S. I don't think you have to worry about Stanford. I am slightly worried about Georgetown because my family really can't afford the tuition if the University is not generous....

HoosforGTown: I really hope we will receive "fat" fin aid package from Georgetown. Still, Georgetown education is worth investing in if you can take out loans, but I don't have that option either being a foreign citizen. Congratulations on your acceptance!

Thanks azzip for answering my question!
Congratulations on your acceptance into SFS HoosforGTown! Did you receive your notification by post? I really hope I receive something in the mail today - anything at this point! I'm on the west coast so mail takes a little longer to get here...good luck everyone!

Muhsan99: Thank you. I am ready to take out some loans if Georgetown doesn't give me necessary grants.

SDSurferChica: I was one of the people who were anxious about calling Georgetown or getting a letter. I hope good news is being delivered to you. It was postmarked on the 12th and arrived here on the 13th. This was possible because I live 20 mins away from GTown.

To those who haven't gottten their decisions: Hey guys- Dreams really come true. My SAT/ACT weren't good at all, but they looked at me as an individual. My essay was about applying political economy knowledge to refugee issues and weapons proliferation. I guess my interests in these issues attracted their interests.

just called them. oh goooooooooooood. they told me to wait one week. TRY WAITING TWO YEARS WHY DONT YOU! ok calm down. lol

Hey blackholezz,
You called eh? Did they say anything else? "Wait a week" sounds cryptic :)
Which school did you apply too?

ilabcurious,
Damn. Rejected. Sorry. Did they say why, sir? How were you able to convince them to release your decision over the phone? Good luck at Vanderbilt. I've never been to Ten.

cas

ugh ill be gone by then.. so i might find out in a month after all lol

jgboggs- Thank you!

I contacted Georgetown several times over the course of a week. I was put in contact with Robin Freed when my college transcript was missing. I told Freed of my dilemma and she said that she received the fax and that my decision would be made by the end of the day yesterday. I called in yesterday and apologized for the inconvenience. The person I spoke with was very understanding and said that this is a common situation for transfers who have been accepted to other schools expecting deposits.

She told me I was rejected due to the few slots available in SFS this year. I suspect if I wanted more information I could call Freed.

In retrospect, maybe I should have applied to the college. I was looking at the courses SFS recommends for transfers to take beforehand and found that I had taken a lot of politics courses but few of the core requirements. Still, Georgetown sounds like an amazing school, especially for us politics fanatics!

I am honored to have been accepted into Vanderbilt and am looking forward to living in Nashville!

ilabcurious1423: I still need to complete 5 core courses at SFS. For this reason, I might turn down SFS for Columbia or Upenn given that I get into one of these schools.

But, for my stats, I think it was almost a miracle for me to get into SFS and do not think that Columbia or Upenn would accept me.

We will see how it goes. Also, I want you to know that Vanderbilt is an amazing school where so many first-year and transfer students want to study.

Best wishes in Nashville!

Has anyone heard back about financial aid or transfer credit?

has anyone actually received a letter for MSB yet?

i received a package from msb, which i told my parents not to open yet, and i received an email with a transfer credit evaluation

BK22889: It's been a while since you were admitted right? How was the transfer credit evaluation process? Are you satisfied?

Ryan2288: I was admitted to MSB, and found out almost a week ago. I am pretty sure the committee only started reviewing the MSB apps last week.

HoosforGTown: I received transfer credit evaluation from Georgetown two days ago...it seems pretty standard. I believe they are accepting 28 out of the 30 credits I have taken (Gtown offers fewer credits for foreign languages it seems). I go to a top 30 school--I'm sure the evaluation depends on the university an applicant attends.

anyone: is that facebook group in the making?

^ no facebook group yet...im getting tempted to make one. i don't mind starting it...but if i do, people better join so i dont feel like a nerd lol

btw, if it means anything to anyone, my current school is on the quarter system, and gtown gave me 3 credits for each class i've taken, which is pretty crazy so i'd be able to transfer like 50 credits

Hey BK, don't want to rain on your parade but I'm pretty sure that's a mistake that they'll fix when you get an official transfer credit. Even my transfer credit was mixed up because I was credited of taking courses that I never took before in my life.

yeah i guess that makes sense, whatever

Elgguj: Please make one. I will join right away. I am actually contacting a transfer student from last year to help us out. If you make a group, he can probably join the group and answer questions.

For credit evaluation, I am worried because I have taken 3 grad (advanced undergrad) courses. I am not sure if they will award credits for these. I found out that they have courses for these except for "causal inference" which is relatively new in the field of politics. Thank god they have game theory (for political scientists) and politics of economic reform within the politics department. I hope my dean is lenient about awarding credits.
