i want gtown because i want to be in D.C.

Just have a question: I received an interview postcard in the mail, and I originally live in Wisconsin, but go to school in NC. So they gave me an interviewer who lives in Wisconsin--do you think this is for a phone interview? or do you think that they simply messed up? The guy that was supposed to interview me is on vacation until May 5th, so now I'm trying to contact the local chairmen. Any suggestions?

for your current address did you put your school's address? they should have sent you a rep from your school's area. anyway, i would call the local chairman and just explain the situation. i'm sure they'll straighten everything out for you

I want to go to Georgetown because I want to get a more fulfilling educational experience and be in a place where the people are vibrant (they do stuff). I also like the curriculum, although I am not catholic, I believe that ethics are really important. Especially for business, ethics can ruin a person's life. I just think there are more opportunities and a more fulfilling environment for my college experience at Georgetown.

Washington D.C. is amazing. I want to be close to Barack Obama ;-)

Yea thats certainly one thing im looking forward to if i get in for the fall of next year... being right in the middle of the presidential elections

That student initiative really makes Gtown special. It's nice to see professors working alongside their students to create meaningful works... I'm a theater kid, and I currently attend NYU Tisch. Gtown's new theater program emphasizes that it's a program for artist/scholars, people who can't separate their creativity from their smarts...I truly believe this program is for future leaders, like everything else at Gtown. And the political activism in D.C!!! The theater program is putting on all these remarkably politically relevant NEW shows, and students are taking leadership roles in every step of the process...

Yea, I agree with Sachmoney about business and ethics stuff. I took marketing at NYU last summer, and felt so violated!!

washington d.c. is going to be absolutely INSANE with the election...like completely ridiculous. in a good way :)

decisions are on their way. i got accepted today.

Really? I have my interview today. It probably means nothing then huh?

my best guess is that they're making decisions as the completed apps roll in. so i wouldn't worry about it.

wait, how is that possible? decisions already? last year people didn't start hearing (at the earliest) till mid-may. gah, i'm nervous now.

henry2011-Did you find out through the mail?

hm...were you on a waitlist/extended waitlist last year henry, or did you apply to a special program at GU?

i havent heard yet and i was on the extended waitlist last year...supposedly i am among those who should hear first.

congratulations on your acceptance regardless!

I have my interview set up for May 6th. That's the earliest my interviewer is available. Any ideas on what to be prepared for? How did eveyone else's interviews go?

congrats henry...are you an extended waitlister/do you have a hook? ugh what i wouldnt give to hear from gtown right now.... i'm losing my mind here at the most boring ivy on earth. and i pretty much have myself as rejected and going to GW since gtown apparently doesnt want to interview me even though there have to be georgetown alums in the area.... since ithaca is pretty much an entire town of college professors and scholars. ugh.

Hi everyone--

I applied to the College for the first time under no special circumstances or for any special programs, and I had my interview about two weeks ago with an alumnus near my current school. This morning I received a thin letter (no big package) at school with the acceptance note, the response card, a return envelope, and a general information sheet inside. The admissions office sent an identical mailing to my home, as well. The decision letter said that Georgetown received more than 1600 applications this year for a little over 200 spots.

Thanks for your congratulations, Casey2889 and Elgguj!

200 out of 1600? that sucks

i think thats a standard number every year

Well, someone might be receiving a rejection letter then.. I'm a bit scared.

no it's not. the admissions rate for last year (transfer) was 24.7%. 200/1600 = 12.5%. dramatic decrease in chance.
