Well, they usually have a 20-25% acceptance rate....so I guess that's probably going down

You have a date tonight ;)

guys you have to remember the yield rate for georgetown isn't 100%. it's probably somewhere around 50-60%, so the 200 spots Georgetown wants to fill is taking into account the yield rate - meaning more than 200 people are actually going to be offered spots so the amount of people who enroll is around 200.

Yeah, that's what I was just telling someone. I still expect that the acceptance rate is going to fall.

calm down...

200 SPOTS does not equal 200 ACCEPTANCES!

1600 applicants for 200 spots means probably around 300 acceptances...300/1600 --> 18.75%, which is on par with this year's Freshman admit rate.

again, calm down. its not 20-25% as in recent years, but they always match frosh rate to transfer rate. this is normal. indeed, chances are worse, but not relatively so when compared to depressed rates at other peer schools.

yeah schools always tell you their stats without accounting for yield rates just to make it seem even harder than it already is. sooo has anyone besides henry been accepted already?

wow, contrats to henry but i wish i hadnt read that. Before i read that i had been nonchalantly checking my mail, not expecting to see any decisions till much later. Now im most likely going to be anally checking my mail everyday until i get my decision, which will most likely be in a month or so :(

oh and to henry... approximately when did you send in your application materials? Im just wondering if students who sent in their stuff earlier should receive a decision earlier

i'm thinking thats not how it works. they wouldnt risk accepting all these people...then finding out at the end that they have better people they dont have room to accept. it seems like they have a way of ranking applications so they make sure the best people get in first and then on down the line until the rejections. explains why the rejections come last.

oh and thats based on the stuff people posted from the last couple years...if you listen to georgetown they send them all june 1st...lol

Georgetown's decision is out!! I just received my acceptance letter from mail!

OMG..cant believe it....

forget to say, congratz to cherryblossom :)

Thanks dickszy. I'm very surprised as well. I wasn't expecting my decision to come out so early.
By the way, I never received any request for alumni interview.

wellll im still bumming out... ^ but maybe thats not such a bag sign for those of us without interviews

Had my interview yesterday. Thought the guy was playing mind games with me. He called me just before 8, asking to move it back to 8:30. I was like alright. I get to Starbucks a little before then. Around 8:40-8:45, I get another call telling me that he's on his way, and he will be there in 10-15 minutes. He probably shows up around 9:10. I was kind of annoyed because I feel like it cut into our interview (Starbucks, like everything else in Cleveland closes at 10).

The guy was really nice, insisted on buying me a cookie. We talked for a real long time. He was a real interesting guy, went to SFS and graduated at the top of his class. Asked some interesting questions.

I thought it went well. Only time will tell.

Sachmoney... u had an interview at Starbucks? ...thats kind of weird

Sorry... I am French... so it might be different

Uhh...I had mine at a Coffee Shop...Why is this weird?

not weird at all...my college interviews last year were at starbucks

Starbucks is a comm on site for interviews in America. Starbucks or any coffee shop. It's an informal/neutral setting.

Yeah, it's probably because you're French.
