I was admitted to Georgetown College as a mathematics major. How about u? Are you already committed to Georgetown? They only gave me $3000 for merit award so I'm still undecided. Plus, i'm still waiting to hear back from the other universities i applied to.

Elgguj:

I can't speak for all the other admitted students but based on the fact that they admitted me, I don't think they are doing anything special. My stats are probably average compared to all the other applicants and i submitted my application on the day it was due.

congrats! i didnt mean anything about you specifically in that post...just wondering if it has something to do with factors like what major you applied to or something else random like that

Hahaha I am terribly sorry I feel like I just came across like a jerk! I didn't mean those people were lying I just meant that Georgetown's inform dates seem to be a tad bit confusing. Thanks for clearing that up, Cherry Blossom, it is much appreciated. I am just starting to get a tad bit nervous. Georgetown also told me by phone that they do not typicaly only send out decisions on the first days of the week, so they could have mailed someone's decision yesterday to arrive tomorrow- they made it seem as if it was totally rolling as apps go through each admissions review committee.

Also, Cherry Blossom, would you mind posting a quick synopsis of your stats?

I got into Georgetown NHS (being a male nurse has always been my dream =) lol). I'd love to go to Georgetown but I'm still deciding over the other schools that I applied to. Also, NHS has extra fees over the estimated (outrageous) $54,000 tuition + housing (Sophomore transfer are required to live on campus whereas Junior transfer don't need to) and its majors have so many requirements for graduation. As for the others still waiting - don't worry because I'm sure all of you will all get in =). From past experience, those who post on this particular website are extremely gifted individuals with spectacular stats and extracurriculars so I'm sure you guys will be getting your acceptance letters soon!

I am also awaiting the decision from georgetown and I am starting to get a little bit nervous with letters being received...(i'm applying to msb)

Here are my stats:

HS GPA: 4.1 out of 4.3
SAT: 1380
College GPA(from Top 30 school in South):
1st semester: 3.85
2nd semester at midterm: 3.93(sent in my midyear grades)
EC's: College: strong, campus ministry, club soccer, sorority pledge chair

HS: numerous awards for sports, governor's school, tutoring, small internship, church involvement, etc etc
Recommendation: should be strong
Essays: very strong
However, though I took the normal 5 courses this semester..my first semester I only took 4 classes even though the norm at my school is 5 (for which I received a 3.85) ....will this not look impressive for georgetown? thanks

College: UCSD
GPA: 3.96~, (7 A+, 1 A-)
Recommendations: Pretty good, I suppose
Essays: I basically reused my “why WashU” essay but changed the univ’s name. I wasn’t very satisfied with it but my profs liked it a lot.

I'm still not sure if I'll be attending Georgetown. I still haven't heard back from all the colleges yet and UCSD is really starting to grow on me. I don't know if transferring is worth the extra 20K and the great relationships I have with my professors.

Good luck to all u guys who are still waiting. I'm sure u all will hear back some good news (soon).

I live in the NYC area, but I go to school in North Carolina...I did not get an interview though I called requesting one numerous times. The Admissions people told me they offer transfer interviews based on alum availability in your area(2 hr radius)and "really not to worry too much"...does anyone know how many prospectives receive an interview (****anyone in the south)?

i go to a southern school, and i called twice about an interview and they said that if i hadnt been contacted then dont worry about. They said it was because alumni were available. But one of my friends at my current school who is also looking to transfer to GTown had an interview, so thats a little upsetting. I think he just really pursued the interview, because he even admitted he thought i was more qualified, so oh well.

May 1st was the deadline for interviewers to submit information about their interviewees. That's what my interviewer told me. I wouldn't worry about not getting an interview though.

alum availability is based on a 2 hr radius? wow, that kind of calls into question whether it's based solely on availability. i'm sure most of us have alumni within a 2 hr radius...i know theres a georgetown alumni club well within a 2 hr radius of where im at. but its true that we shouldnt worry about it now...sooo we'll see what happens when the letters come lol

Yeah, I am beginning to think the interview is just a formality.....

Anyway, my current school wants deposit money and I only applied to two schools for transfer(so I'm stuck here if I dont get in)...if I don't make the deposit soon I will lose my registered courses for fall, which happen to be required for our undergrad business school and jam-packed as of now....

I don't really want to squander money...is there any way i could call up Admissions and try to get my decision?

Georgetown's decision letters are in a small envelope. It holds three pieces of paper -

(a) your official acceptance letter
(b) Georgetown Honor Code with your listed major and school you got into.
(c) a blue sheet of Transfer information and estimated cost of tuition.

It also comes with a Georgetown reply envelope.

For those of you who didn't get an interview- DON'T WORRY!

If it makes you all feel better - I didn't get an interview either and nothing bad happened to me. I guess the interview just gives Georgetown another perspective to your personality.

Sachmoney: Top two schools last year came down to Haverford and here...I fell in love with this school when I visited...had some good family friends that go here and my cousin as well. In high school I thought I was conservative, preppy, into the Southern thing because I am from the suburbs of Manhattan and was surrounded by very liberal schoolmates...yeah turns out I am fairly liberal compared to the majority of students here and I am really turned off by the superficiality and ignorance that plagues this campus(top 30 university, not too tough to figure out lol). Unfortunately, I gave up three top 15 LAC that are much tougher to get into and have the more urbane atmosphere which I now realize I prefer. I never applied to Gtown...but now after experiencing college life I know DC, specifically Georgetown, is where I want to be. My school has a very strong business program (I think top 20 undergrad) with massive grade deflation (actually the grade deflation here overall is pretty bad...dean's list is only 3.0 and avg. frosh gpa=2.6) and I actually don't mind that. But I feel like my intellectual pursuits are not understood here (they are by teachers but not by peers) nor are they stimulated by the generally apathetic student body.

This school also does not offer an International Business major...and since I study Mandarin that is the direction I am going. So yes, I am applying to McDonough...you?
