@Ashtash you echoed my thoughts exactly.
@skyblueforever had an alumni interview in early March. Believe you only get an interview if there is an alumnus available to do so
I received an interview assignment approximately two weeks after I submitted my application
I had the same thing as @ZZZXXXZZZ
I got an alumni interview around the same time, it depends on location I want to say but some people had interviews through Skype so I’m not sure if it’s selective
I’m in California so my interview got waived idk if it’s solely based off location or just their preference but I assumed it was location
Interviews are based on availability of alumni in your location. I’m guessing that the Skype interviews were determined between the alumnus and the applicant. I was assigned an alumnus and her and I decided on a place to meet. I was not directed by Georgetown to meet/Skype- it was up to her and me
Waiting is the worst part!!! When do the SFS wave come in? I know they do it by schools or majors
Does anyone know when MSB would hear back? or at least the first wave? All answers appreciated
I heard SFS got their response on May 4th in 2017
@polyscidreamer , I feel the same way - no idea. Hopefully next week.
I think MSB may wait until after May 1 when they see what their freshman class size looks like. It seems like they have a size issue, maybe because they get internal transfer requests. But, I think I read that applications and acceptances were down at MSB, so that may be good news for transfers.
When our daughter applied to MSB a few years ago as a transfer, she did not hear back until after the June date at which she had to accept other schools offers. As such, she deposited at another college, found an apartment and roommate. She was finally offered a spot on the WL and ultimately the extended WL. She was offered admission in early August. It made for some last minute shuffling, but everything worked out fine and she will graduate this December.
@vegas1 Thank you so much for the information! I have been accepted to another school and have to reply by May 1st but I’m still waiting for Georgetown. Congratulations to your daughter!
@ZZZXXXZZZ Have you asked GU for an early read? It might be kind of a late notice now, but you can try. I think it’s worth it if you really want to go to GU. You could also make a deposit at the other school and lose it if you get into GU and wish to attend
Hi @Ashtash. I actually have not. My professor recommended me to do so but I was worried as Georgetown is my reach school and I’m not sure whether requesting for an early read would diminish my chances of admission to the school.
@ZZZXXXZZZ I don’t think it would. If anything, it just shows them they’re a top choice of theirs. I heard it doesn’t and I think I saw a few people get in that requested early reads from older threads
@Ashtash Thanks for your suggestion. I’ve emailed Georgetown about this. Hopefully they are able to let me know by May 1 and they would accept me. Thanks a lot!
do you guys know who we should contact if we want an early read?
@lolhalp I just sent an email to the transfer admissions office
