I applied to SFS March 22. I started app but decided not to apply, wanting to leave the northeast and go to a smaller school. I got an email March 15 saying they’d accept it if in by 3/22 and said why not. Thought I’d provide stats for reference.
College: northern StateU, honors college, merit scholarship 2nd year partial
GPA: 3.912 (credit overload ~19/semester)
ECs: Tutor, mentor, two internships in government/politics
Gap year, worked in urban public school as math support
HS: prep school, well known but nothing illustrious
GPA: 2.4 (downward trend)
SAT: 1440/1600 (M: 680, R: 760)
Various ECs, some interesting, nothing worth emphasizing in app compared to college activities
@aizetbegovic what’d you do in Gov’t? The Hill? House? Senate? Academia? @surefineitsok read this and the last page - from some open source digging, results are released starting the last week of April.
@surefineitsok If you look back at all the threads from the previous years, you’ll see results start coming in April. They always just say June on the website because it gives them plenty of time. While we can’t be 100% of when they’ll start coming out, we can say with a lot of confidence that some people will start seeing decisions around the last week of April. Let’s just hope this year isn’t an outlier(:
I just called them about the application proof errors and they said that they had all of my accurate information and that it must’ve been a glitch in the system.
@Redacted1@Ashtash Thanks guys! I appreciate it! It’d be really cool if we found out in april haha. Most of my other schools are released in the next week or last week of April actually.
@janice4527 I called them last week and they explained that the PDF is automatically generated and not manually. Hence the errors a lot of people receive.
My school sent my Dean’s report twice, and to two separate emails. GU still claims they don’t have them. Really dissapointed that my app won’t be reviewed because GU can’t get it together. I basically paid them 75 bucks for them to lose my forms.
@Kd6410 If they sent it virtually, did they upload it to the link in the portal? It could be automatically received that way.
Did you just check your portal regarding the receipt or did you directly contact GU? If not, I would call GU. I’m going through the same thing with another school, so I know it’s frustrating
@Ashtash , @Kd6410 , In my case, they lost/ didn’t receive my transcripts but a phone call right as my school re-delivered it solved the issue. You might want to do the same thing.
I’m sure this has been asked, but how are decisions published? Snail mail or portal? Also based of last year’s thread the first wave should be coming late April??
@whereto2022 GU is notorious for using snail mail for first-years, but, based on threads from previous years, it seems like decisions are sent by email…at least the earlier ones. I was confused by this as well because it seems like the ones who heard in late April/early May received emails, but it also seems like some people who were denied/WL in late May received mail because they were talking about the price of the postage stamps…
Yes, the first wave should come next week. Hopefully nothing has changed. I have a feeling they might try to be more thorough considering GU’s involvement in the college admissions scandal, however, I don’t think that will really affect timing
@Ashtash@Redacted1 I called them after it wasn’t recieved on the portal and I got an email about it. They said the only thing I could do is double check with my school to make sure it was sent (it was) and then resend it. I did that last Friday and it’s still not on the portal. I will call them again but there’s really nothing more I can do
