Georgetown University Transfer 2019

@CakeQueen0801 I know that you are from the northern area of a state. I would love to talk to you in private. I was a runner for that President recommendation but I lost it :(. Congratulations on that. I have the same GPA and applied mostly to the schools you applied.

@yayy12 Yes, I am. Sure - feel free to message me privately! Also thank you!

@CakeQueen0801 Iā€™m new to the website and thus not able to send private messages. After 15 posts one can talk privately. However, could you please tell me which school of GU did you apply to?

@yayy12 Oh - well it looks like I canā€™t either then. I applied to the college. Iā€™m most likely going to major in something science related since Iā€™m premed.

@CakeQueen0801 Iā€™m glad youā€™re not into MSB because your stats outscored mine in Presidential letter now I donā€™t want you to kill my app in msb. Looking to your stats, you are already into these school: Columbia, UVA, and GW.

Harvard is impossible; no offense, I talked to their former admissions officer.

The schools that are impobible (there is chance):

Yale
JH
GU
Princeton

If you were surprised about your chance at Columbia, let me know to explain their case.

@yayy12 Wow, thanks! I appreciate you letting me know. You said that your stats were similar to mine; as long as your essays are unapologetically you, you will have a really good chance. .

Also no offense taken. My top choice is Georgetown. The rest of the places that I applied to were either reaches or backups.

Hey could someone chance me!
Major: Justice and Peace Studies
College GPA: 3.72
HS GPA: 3.0 W(ik its really bad)
SAT(old one):710 CR, 600 Math, 690 WR I took it in the middle of my junior year of hs
SAT 2ā€™s: 800 US History 790 Spanish
760 World History
APs: AP Spanish 5, AP Euro 3, APUSH 4, AP Psychology 4, AP Gov 4, APES 4
Class: Sophomore transfer
Extra stuff: ik my hs gpa and sat score is not the best but I hope the care more about my college GPA. I also felt that my essays were pretty decent. I also dont think the letter of rec will be great like it will say good things but I feel like it might be pretty generic. Iā€™m also first gen minority.
HS EC: 150 hr internship at a law firm, participation in my hs magnet program, major leadership position in a non profit, varsity cheer, rubioā€™s cashier/waitress, and cc honors program
College EC: work, church volunteer, community college dance production, and community college honors program
Transfer from: I did one year at a community college then transferred to UCLA where I withdrew after 5 weeks and now Iā€™m applying GU, Cornell, and UC Berkeley

@janice4527 So how long have you been out of high school? Not sure if you mean youā€™re going to be transferring in as a sophomore or youā€™re currently a sophomore, but if youā€™re a rising sophomore then your HS GPA and test scores will still be heavily weighted. Do you have a good reason for withdrawing? If not, it looks suspicious

@Ashtash I graduated hs in 2017 and I will be transferring in as a sophomore. And yes I do have really good reasons for withdrawing i wouldnā€™t have left without one.

thank you, yours looks very good as well! best of luck to you.

@CakeQueen0801 I think youā€™re a strong applicant. The only thing that seems to be a ā€œred flagā€ is your SAT score, but you had great HS grades and a 4.0, so you definitely have that in your favor. Hopefully your new score is a bit higher. Since youā€™re a rising junior, Iā€™m confident they wonā€™t weigh it as heavily as they would if you were a rising sophomore. I think you have a pretty good a shot! I really hope you get in!

@janice4527 I think you have an OK chance then. Since youā€™re a rising junior, your college grades will be weighed more heavily, however, your college GPA is below the GU transfer average GPA. You donā€™t have a great shot, but you do have a shot. Just being realistic.

Also, I thought UCLA only takes junior+ transfers. How did you transfer in as a sophomore?

@Ashtash actually Iā€™m a rising sophomore and ya UCLA only takes junior transfers but I was considered a junior because of my AP scores gave me sophomore standing when I started community college

.

.

I want to get into Georgetown.

@Ashtash - Wow, thank you so much!!! My new SAT scores are near the upper-middle 50% of the results they posted on their website for previous transfers! I was so happy lol. I applied to a bunch of schools, but really this school is the only decision I care about. I appreciate your comments.

why did u decide to transfer from baylor?

@ethanissavage why did u decide to transfer from baylor?

@anatomygeek34 Baylor is a good school with a ton of cool people (and itā€™s close to home for me), however i feel like my options and opportunities in my desired major of Poli Sci (govt for Georgetown) are rather limited, and honestly i fell in love with Georgetown after seeing the culture and nature of being in D.C. Also on a more not so important reason why i kinda decided was because Baylor is not exactly fun to be at and itā€™s not the best in my area, so the give and take isnā€™t all there for me if that makes sense. Iā€™m not upset being at Baylor, Georgetown is just my dream school at the moment (itā€™s the only school i applied to Transfer to) and if i somehow manage to make it in iā€™d be more than estatic. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me (-:
