well thats good news because I don’t see the 7th semester thing =D
But my school already sent in my mid-year reports, but it doesn’t say
that it has been received yet on the view credentials page… hmm…
I think its safe to say I got the good deferral?

Omar you got the good deferral letter…sorry to sound harsh but you’ve asked this like 100 times lol. But really going back to one of your other posts I’m not surprised that you got the good one being that your from Pakistan. UM wants a diverse community and your sort of unique being that your Pakistani.

I think I got the good letter. Should I send my 7th semester grades in if they are bad? Because I think the only reason I was not admitted was because my gpa is 3.64, otherwise I’m either on par with Michigan or above it.

^^^ If you got the good one and your seventh semester grades aren’t that great, why would you send them? Your answer is no esp. since you don’t have to send them.

When I was applying I got the letter that specifically asked for 7th semester grades. I got in, and then I got into the Honors program. Other people at my high school that got the 7th semester grades letter were also accepted. No one that got the letter that specifically said deferred in it got in.

So you know the difference…

If you got the one that specifically asks for 7th semester grades, your application has been pulled out of the pool of applications until you send in your grades. At that point, you application will be COMPLETELY reevaluated, given a ranking, and then decided upon for admission.

If you got the letter that says the word deferred in it, your application has been evaluated, but you can send in materials that might sway their opinions a bit. However, your application has not been pulled out of the review pool and is being considered for admission every week, even if you don’t send any new information.

Hope that helps.

didn’t read much past the michigan deferral, but a tip my boyfriend’s sister used to get into Cornell when she was waitlisted for grad school was this - SHOW YOUR INTEREST. A lot of the people who were waitlisted in that pile they speak of just wait for the news to come to them. Make it happen for you. Keep making calls to show your interest is still very high, send emails to admissions asking what you can do - they see these things and it’s a big flag for them as to what kind of student you are. Persistent and responsible. It’s like having a job interview. She also flew to NY twice to meet with professors who also put in a good word for her because of her constantly keeping in touch with the school. Stand out and you’ll increase your chances. And yes, she was accepted.

hahaha
yeah I did ask 100 times, I’m just really nervous and since someone cough UMICH cough is closed till monday next week and wont let me know my decision, I just had to ask on here a lot.
forgive me for my constant questions haha, I bid you all a good luck and farwell =)

Omar its all good. By the way I saw the bombing in Karachi on the TV today…hope everything’s going alright over there. My friend used to live in a gated community with a ton of Americans I believe in Karachi until he left when he was about 5. Loved it there.

that’s thoughtful of you ckl22

^^ okay? Not sure what your trying to get at

Ok, thanks guys, that clears it up

Btw Hauck, did you go to a high school that sends alot of people to Michigan? As in 20 or more students.

ckl22-

sorry if you thought that i was mocking you man. don’t take it as an insult. i never intended it to be like that. i was just appreciating your respect for other people’s safety in that situation. i myself am pakistani and was touched by your response since many of my relatives live there.

easy: lol its all good man…i thought you were being sarcastic haha

@ck,
yes that was very thoughtful and nice of you and is much appreciated =)
things are fine its just that, its frustrating when people call themselves Muslim
when all they do is kill other Muslims.
but what can we do?
when an ex-cia man with a beard talks, all the weak-minded people listen.
the beard gives him extra points too haha
almost every Pakistani President has facial hair, and the one
who didnt was thrown in jail for corruption charges…
my government is based off of facial hair -_-

OK I go the good deferral and under view credentials there is nothing that states my 7th semester grades are required.

Judging from other posts I can safely assume that I just wait now. Correct?

If so, and say I do get accepted soon. Will a D in Calc make them rescind their acceptance in the end? Keep in mind that I’m doing engineering so math is pretty critical.

If your grades are good you can send them in to increase your chances, by the sound of it they weren’t stellar…as for the rescind, idk I was under than impression that one bad grade won’t make then rescind your admissions, however, two or three could

I believe I heard that Michigan’s policy is 1 D or E and admissions is rescinded and 3 Cs or more and admissions is rescinded. I can’t confirm it though so it may be false. Let me see if I can.

^ I know my school doesn’t give D’s <70=fail…but you could be right

Well jkaplan, if your school doesnt give D’s I don’t think it really matters then because D and E are the same thing to Michigan so you’ll probably have to get that up to a C.
