having a girlfriend/boyfriend back home...

haha yea i've lived in that area pretty much most of my life. its great! and i've been thinking about the NROTC. so yea, i'm still not going to dump the mid, but i can still take advantage whats around me and have fun. i have been able to. and yes GO BEARS!

navygirl,
don't just think about NROTC, go to the website and start the application process now! I want navygirl to say something about YOU, not your b-friend!

haha yea i was looking at it today, but i need to think about it more and talk to my parents about it. it would be a great way to pay for college.

navygirl, apply for NROTC now if you even think you may want it. I'm pretty sure you can drop the application later.

Four broken hearts in five years. Sure, they were a great source of suport while we were going out, but a total nightmare when things fell apart, as if I had nothing else to worry about.

Some guys held on and married their HS sweethearts, so my case is hardly the be-all, end-all. Sadly, however, my case is far more common.

the torpedo broke off his relationship before leaving for school- pretty girl, heading for princeton. He said something about not needing anything to mess up his mind. They still talk.

navygirl- there is so, so much time ahead of you. You will learn that while you rush to grow up, you will have a lifetime wishing you hadn't. There is a whole world out there, and you owe it to yourself- and your mid- to explore it, savor it, enjoy it- both of you. Be a good friend. Let time work its magic.

Zaphod: hard to settle down when you are roaming all over the country. Keep the faith. You never know.

And how did you know I was going through yet another bout of the broken hearts? ;)

Zaphod: its written all over that sleeve of yours- and something had to account for your absence from here for awhile there-

Why not roam back to Long Island and recharge your batteries for awhile- Jones Beach will be open for business again before you know it!

Actually, my absence is due to my being at my sister's house for the past 2.5 weeks while looking for work. Better than sitting in my apartment all day.

Long Island? No thanks. I'm not too keen on moving any further north than Virginia. My blood thinned out over 8 years in Miami! :D

Hey Zaphod,

How about hopping a container ship as an AB and working for one of those Kings Point guys? (tongue planted firmly in cheek)

It could be worse, you could end up flying a desk for a Zoomie!

I once had the distinct displeasure of having to work for one West Point grad and alongside another.

Both were clueless idiots. I quit after three weeks. Best decision I've ever made, professionally.

Non military and "Ring Kings" don't mix well in the real world.

Hazmat,

Zap's is a Ring King. I'm sure he would find Kings Pointers quite different from West Pointers, and would find them as a whole enlightening, thoughtful, and a pleasure to be around at all times.

Such a specialized gaming style those ring keepers. Kinda like Harry Potter.

Zaphod: Now be honest - you must have also worked with/for at least a few USNA grads who were also clueless idiots.

Zaphod: what is it you are looking to do, may I ask? you never know who is stopping in on these boards!

Yeah, but that was while I was in uniform, not after. I've only worked for one USNA grad since then, and he was OK. My comment was a statemement of fact, not a blanket accusation. One of the recruiters I'm working with is a USMA grad, and one hell of a nice guy.

In my book, all ringknockers, regardless of Academy, are brothers in arms until they prove otherwise. The fact that USNA grads are inherently superior, though, is just a fact of life! ;)

I have no idea where the idea that "Ring Kings" don't mix well with civilians comes from. Must be some REALLY good crack he's smoking....

As for what I'm looking for, it's senior QA Manager or QA Director positions in the Medical Device field, preferably in MN, NC, or GA. I have a few possibilities going, so my wait shouldn't be for much longer, and I'll be able to update my location soon. :)

Huh? Wha? Heh?

Guidant type of deal?

Precisely.

As a matter of fact, I need to raid their website...

ETA: HOLY THREAD HIJACK, BATMAN!
