My guess is most politicians are grads of HK universities. Politics in Hong Kong is a lot simpler and more transparent. While in the US, many people think the political parties are the most corrupted institutions, in Hong Kong, people are less worried (and cynical) about the corruption of the political classes.

@spillcanvas my cc username is just something sentimental to me. tts all. haha.

anw ust got back to me regarding the visa matters after i email them. i still dunno why they didnt send me an email initially stating they receive my documents. making me panicky and all. i totally cant wait to get all the administrative stuff done. i am thinking about the prospects of studying in ust everyday now!

LOL fridayevening got drunk and wasted your first time and realised you went to bed with another person you didn’t know the next morning? Hahah, that sounds like a movie.

Oh well, not all politicians in Hong Kong are not even civilised enough to represent the wider community counterparts, throwing bananas and swearing are just utterly unacceptable behaviour. I actually hope Hong Kong becomes less free in a sense…

@ spillcanvas : because DQ is my initial which stands for Da Qiang , my given name.
And that bonafide part i thought it sound cool when i played street basketball
on PS2 when I was like Form 3?

@quincykid : read your pm

Wow, this is like the longest time I’ve seen this thread inactive… LOL
2 more papers to go!!!

haha, i got ap calculus BC tomorrow. I have no idea why I am taking it and I have no idea whats on the test and what is the test format. Going to go waste 4 hours of my life…

@michelleger - I was just wondering what part of the U.S. you’re from? [I’m from good ol’ socal.] and what influenced your decisions to apply overseas?

Done with ib :)

One more… hmph…

phoenix- im in the opposite side of the US, lol, i live in PA, outside of philadelphia. i applied to HKU b/c somehow i stumbled onto their site and when i found out curriculum was taught in english, reasonable tuition(compared to US schools, even a little cheaper then in-state here), etc., i was super hopeful parents would let me apply! I had applied to a couple local good public state schools, but i really wasnt excited to go to any of them, and when i found HKU it was like a dream come true! haha, idk, prospect of HK is so amazing to me, new culture, new language, i guess just a new beginning! and I love the idea of hall culture, to be ultra unified with your hall sounds great =D Sometimes, I think the biggest thing that is attracting me to HKU is the distance from home, i just want to rip my roots out from here and realize i can integrate and adapt to culture anywhere =P also, since im half chinese, its the only overseas place my dad would even consider allowing me to go! i swear he suffocates me with these things, haha

and hey, my mom lives in socal, really beautiful there! what about you? any big reasons to apply to UST? did you apply to any UC’s?

@spillcanvas: My dad sent HKU my deposit 2 days ago… Can I ask you or anybody here when I can recieve their reply? My extension deadline was due today, and DHL shows the school recieved it on thursday morning…

rubichino- when i sent my deposit in, they never confirmed it, but when i sent it we had the post add something where we could track it. It arrived and a signature was given to accept it so im assuming they have my deposit…i should check probably, but i dont want to bother them more than i have, lol

so you are still considering HKU then?

so rubichino I thought you made up your mind already :p

Does anyone know if hku takes ap credits?

I’ve never seen on their website and given that the local A level is ridiculously difficult and HKU still doesn’t give any credits to them - I highly doubt HKU will take any AP or IB credit.

I WAS JUST DONE WITH IB 10 MINUTES AGO, YIPPEEEE

@SDG1, michelleger: Haha, I know it sounds funny when i suddenly wrote about HKU deposit… It’s actually my dad who suddenly sent the deposit w/o sayin anything, But at least I now have two options instead of one…? lol

@TheGrand: Sadly, I agree wid you…

What kinda laptops do HK people use?
I am looking at Dell cuz its really cheap and in pretty gud quality…
but still, I am concerned about warranty…

Congrats with finishing IB Guys. Now we wait for scores!

Just make sure whichever type of laptop you pick, that there is warranty and a service center in Hong Kong - or perhaps you can purchase one in Hong Kong if you like. I think the laptop prices are pretty competitive.

@ysbera: I DON’T CARE ABOUT MY SCORE ANYMORE I AM JUST SET FOR LIFE! - Of course, knowing that I met the condition already :D

@thegrand i’ve been thinking also whether to buy my laptop at hk anot. my dad says its cheaper there since there are no goods taxes unlike singapore, and of course there is the warranty issue as well. but there is this pc fair in june here, and there are probably plenty of good deals around that i might buy it here.

hi everyone! =)
i’m having my interview for Chemistry in HKUST soon in June.
is it likely for the interviewers to ask you technical questions (in this case, chemistry questions) to test your knowledge in the area O_O?
