HKU or HKUST

As for the Business school, lets have a look:

The Financial Times, # 16 in the World
[Business school rankings and MBA rankings from the Financial Times](http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/global-mba-rankings)

The Economist, #11 in the World
[Which MBA](WhichMBA?)

The Financial Times EMBA rankings, #2 in the World, and always in the top 3 the past 5 years.

Every single department within the School is ranked top 30 in the World as per research output in the most prestigious journals. Those stats are for a school thats only 20 years old, where will they be in 5, 10 years? only moving up…

HKU once again, its a great school if you want to do law/medicine and there is always be demand in that area, but as far as the most promising careers are concerned you have to take HKUST over HKU.

ok… all your stats are about mba/emba and we all know that UST > HKU on those. We are going to study for undergrad dude…

i realize that and there arent any rankings for bba business, so you have to go by these, as its the same faculty teaching both.

wow, that’s my point. you can’t go by those stats but they are referring to mba/emba. You do realize that undergrad and grad vary greatly. How come I don’t see Mcintire is ranked #1 for graduate, since its undergrad is ranked #1? In fact, it’s not even close to 1.

i will take it further, everybody has an area which he/she wants to study… economics, engineering, whatever that might be.

what you do is find a ranking for that deparment and i will guarantee you that if that department is present at hkust and hku, 90% or higher of the time hkust will be higher.

in the end you are taught in the same department bba grad phd whatever. so there is a high positive correlation as to quality in each category.

for graduate study, that is.

you can’t prove anything by correlation, I am sure that you know that

no idont have a choice to go to usa , i have sumone livin in hk so it will be more convenient. I mean wen us students can study in hkust then why will not us recognize hkust degree. I heard from sumone on this froum that hkust degree is worldwide recognized. I mean atleast a bit more preference for mba if u graduate from the same uni.
Sumone pls ans my placement quest.
If I do UG+MBA from hkust and work in us or india or even hk wat kind of salaries can i expect in each country

you have to work few years before applying for MBA.

is it necessary to work , i think its necessary but most people work for a year or so for the job experience and do mba

what will you be studying? specifically

most probably Comp SC information engineering

i doubt 1 year is enough, maybe at HKU but HKUST Business is much more selective.

sdg1 what are you going to study?

then how much time one has to work.
R u a passout or goin to hkust or hku this year.
Do u know anythin bout placements. and salary
Offcours it will be selective its the topmost in ASIA

um… BEcon&Fin most likely

oh sorry, now i get what you meant by Mcintyre…

1 undergrad, #16 mba

University of Virginia (McIntire)

4 University of Michigan (Ross)
5 Brigham Young University (Marriott)
6 UC Berkeley (Haas)
7 MIT (Sloan)
8 Cornell University
9 Emory University (Goizueta)
10 University of Texas at Austin (McCombs)

18 Miami University (Farmer)
19 Carnegie Mellon (Tepper)
20 Indiana University (Kelley)

Only reliable ranking in my opinion is US News, and international ones. Business Week and Wall street journal seem to weigh their own survey criteria very highly resulting in a laughable rankings undergrad and mba

have a look at these two separate rankings for Finance and Econ departments around the world.

FINANCE

http://wpcarey.asu.edu/finance/rankings/results.cfm</a>

HKUST is #26
CUHK is #82

HKUST is #55
CUHK is #89
HKU is #139

niksy, i’m down to few schools in the US and HKUST.
