I am a Swedish student, who is studying my last, third year at upper secondary school here in Sweden. I have been considering to apply for these programs at HKUST;

HKUST Global Business
HKUST Economics and Finance

I would appreciate if anyone could tell me if I have a shot at either the Global Business or the Economics and Finance.

Speaking Swedish, Norwegian and English fluent, competent in German.
GPA: 3.6/4 (about 22 grades with the highest grade and 12 with the second highest grade).
TOEFL: I will acquire a score which is over 80 points, as HKUST requires.
ECs: Extremely relevant and good.
References and recommendation letters will be surpassingly good.

Do they want me to send a recommendation letter from a techer?

I think for Global Business, they would like you to be in the top 5-7% or higher in your country (this is based on the IB score required for a conditional offer a CC member (The Grand) got). If you fall into that category and with your ECs, you should have a decent shot. Coming from Sweden would definitely help as they want diversity. They got most applicants from Asia.

Economics and Finance should not be a problem.

@nowayhey
all i know is global business is very competitive to get in and i cant really make a prediction basing on your gpa. usually its a 38/45 in ib as the offer. For economics and finance, u seem to have a good shot but remember it doesnt really matter which one u choose because u come into ust as a general bba student and only on ur second year do u get to choose ur major, so its more of a formality and not really a crucial choice. btw, since ur studying in the swedish curriculum, u most likely have to do year 0 since all my other swedish friends here at hkust had to do the same. u will be required for a letter of recommendation but they will send u an actual form for ur sponsor of ur choice to fill up. cheerz

Hi! do you think I’ll stand a chance to enter HKU/HKUST/CUHK (business administration) programme if I attained such grades? The first set is probably the best that I could attain for my A levels(singapore).

english -B
chinese -B
math -A
econs-B
chem -E
literature-C

and this could be the worst…

english- B
chinese-B
math-B
econs- C/D
chemistry- E
literature-D

as for my CVs and referee’s report, they are pretty good so I’m not worried about them.

I am currently in class 12 and would be giving my ISC this year.
I have applied for my undergraduate studies in HKUST and HKU.
I have applied for BBA.

My qualifications are:
STD X (ICSE) = 80% (the cutoff given in the university website is 75%)
IELTS = 7.0
I also have a few co-curricular activities certificates.

So, do I stand a chance to get admission into any of the university?

hey there. i am an Indonesian student that follows Australian’s HSC programs.
I want to take engineering program at HKUST. and from what i have read, is it really hard to be accepted there?
Can somebody tell me how much UAI I should get so that i can be accepted?

My IB predicted grade is 35points and a lot of extracurricular activities, and I’ve applied to HKUST’s Econ&Finance, quantitative fianace, and BBa. Does anyone think I will have the change to be admitted?
I applied with early decision, and still don’t get anything from any skool~

Hey gogounivs
I applied early decision too and have been accepted and got a full Scholarship …
I have 38 IB predicted, 7 sports, national level dance and singing competition, dramatics (national level) and oratory…
I also put my work experience as a teacher and as an Engineer…
I had applied for Mech Engineering…

That was the background, having said that I think you have a strong IB score and with lots of extra-curricular activities as you say, you should be fine! The only reason why you haven’t received anything from them could be because they havn’t received your transcripts, certificate copies etc. by mail… So I suggest you call them and ask them how the application review process is going and if they need anything else from you! They are pretty slow with replying to e-mails so dont send them one if you wanna get it done quickly… thats wht one of my friends had a problem with as well, and she has sorted it out with them now,

Hey Cyscfw (wow thts confusing me!)
There are two ways of accepting the offer I guess, what I did was I emailed them an acceptance letter, which they would have emailed to you with the offer of acceptance package, and mailed them a hard copy too…
I asked the bank to transfer the 10,000 HK$ to the Hangseng Bank as they had requested and sent them a copy of the transaction receipt…
Thats wht they would expect you to do but depending on which part of the country you live it could be diff i guess, best thing i guess is to call them and let them know you are accepting the admission offer and have emailed the acceptance letter and transfered the money…

Where you from and what course will you be doing ?

Lemme knw if you have any further difficulties…

Sarthak19118: i didnt even get an email… but i checked my online application status and they gave me an conditional offer. well, i just called to make sure because i didnt get a formal mail or anything. they say that i should be receiving a mail from the post in the up-coming two days. so yeah, i guess i should be alright.

Okay… Yeah then it sounds okay… Did they ask you to resend the acceptance letter and the deposit the fee by any specific deadline ??
Whats the conditional offer ? I need to get a 33 or higher for admission, and 38 or higher for full tuition scholarship…
What course you applying for ?!

as mentioned, i didnt even get an acceptance letter for some reason…
the deposite deadline is jan 29th and yeah, the conditional is 33 and 4 in A1 english.
and thats for normal BBA.

oh and how long did it take you to receive the mail because i live in sh too.

@ sarthak- its good to see a mech engineer cming to hkust. im also doing mech here and im currently a freshmen and did IB too. will be seeing you soon then.

if anyone has questions regarding hkust or hong kong in general, ill b happy to help =)
