Yes Cyscfw, that sounds about right!
Oh really!!? Well i received the email instantly, but the mail has still not reached me! So what I did was i printed out the email and filled the form, scanned it and emailed it and then mailed a hard copy too…
What school do you go to ?! I dunno why its taking the mail soo long to reach Shanghai !! lol

Hey danjroman! Thats awesome ! So how is the Uni and hw are the professors ?!
I would love to hear any suggestions that you might have for me !!

Oh I had a question about the On campus housing at HKUST, how and when does an International Applicant apply for the on campus housing ??
Also what is the Sports team’s name / mascot of HKUST ?!?

Hey guys, an international student here…
I’m going to submit my application to HKU and HKUST soon
I’m applying BBA(A&F) and IGBM for HKU, and BBA and Global Business for HKUST.

IB Predicted-
Physics HL- 7
Math HL - 7
Geography HL - 5
Business and management HL - 6
A1 English SL - 7
B Mandarin SL - 6
Bonus: 1
TOTAL: 39/45

SAT1: CR: 630 M: 740 W: 630 (2000)
SAT2: Math IIC: 760, Chinese w/Listening: 710, Physics 670
GPA unweighed: 3.6/4.0

Do I have a chance for those programs mentioned above??

The IB score is good, a point more than mine!
The SAT scores are good, although the Writing and CR are in the average range…
The GPA is a bit lower than I would expect a person with 39 IB points to get, but its not exceedingly low too…
I think with few extra-curricular activities, you should make it !

Hi…I have done my A levels in the UK .My grades are AAB with one A in AS…(AABa)
What are my chances at HKUST???
please help with some information…
(i have posted the same msg in several threads but this is the only one that is alive and kicking!)

i think someone here said it was 38 for him/her. but keep in mind that’s just the required condition so they wouldn’t rescind the offer. it’s therefore more like the lower end of the score range they want to see.

I was hoping for someone to chance me please =).

I am from Canada.

High School Grade 12 average = 96 % (School doesn’t do GPA)
Rank: 4/356
SAT I: Cr (630) W (700-essay 9) M (750)
SAT II: Math II (740) Physics (700)

Alot of EC/Clubs. 7 years of Ice Hockey. Study Abroad Summer Program at Cornell University.

My three choices are:
Bachelor of Medicine
BEcon/Fin
BEngineer

I have HK Passport and I do not need visa to study/live in HK.

I know Medicine is like super hard to get into.

What about BEcon/Fin and BEng? Are those two programs difficult to get in? Does anyone know the acceptance rate???

Hey rebecca!
I looked at the residence and asked them how and when I can apply, they said they will email/mail me about the housing info…
Given the option I will take the two people per room or single person room accommodation…

Cyscfw: Really!? Why was I not asked for an interview?! Is it because i’m doing engineering ?!

IRun Show:
The grades are really impressive! But what do you mean by “Medicine must be diff, what about Beng!” I mean that doesnt matter, you gotta do what you gotta do! like you wont do medicine even if its easy to get in as compared to Beng, if you dont want to !!

it means even you got 39, you may not treat it as a safety even though the conditional offer requires 38 for “conditional admits”. 38 was simply the lowest they allowed that lucky person to get.

Edit: I think you are in for BBA (it’s not just a match; it’s a safety/safe match)

Their B-school admission places a bit more on well-roundedness. In the interview round, you could outcompete the person that got higher grades/IB score in your group for the admission. They rarely trick people with obscure things; the topics are usually about fairly well-known/common social/economic/controversial issues such as “gay marraige”, for example. So if one has no clue and has nothing to say, it means he/she can’t think critically or has been focusing too narrowly on just the exams. In that case, it’d be a rejection regardless of his/her stats. The group interview also allows them to have a glimpse of how one behaves in a group setting.
