U too from INDIA?Applying for fall 2010?

@ALL…I was just thinking this right now that we are all at our places with the hope of coming to HK …to UST…||…Is it not gr8 that we are discussing our thoughts and views frankly with every person on this THREAD,spending every precious moments on SHARING AND reading updates from our friends;sharing the feel and happiness of being accepted which means a lot to a student, congratulating a friend with a smile on his acceptance to the University; helping out others with their applications etc…IT FEELS SO GREAT TO BE A PART OF THIS THREAD. Dont you all think that this thread has actually brought us closer, from strangers to friends, evn before we actually meet at " THE UST "(respect).

MATES…I think that its an experience of a life time.!!..Even after being accepted at “THE UST”…evn after our graduation we are gonna remember this moment… how we used to chat in forums and huge thread (with approx #1500 post)(Amazed) before our acceptance to the university. These are the moments we are gonna jeer about when we meet.

IT WOULD BE GR8 TO SEE EVERYONE FROM THIS THREAD IN UST:-
SARTHAK,DEXMAX,ANAND,PHEONIX,alexavier,SMARTCHAP…

HOPE V MEET IN HKUST.

@sathark, sam lee, aman, dexmax, dofbs…, anand - Thank you all very much for your input! I think I’m leaning towards HKUST for the once in a lifetime experience. But I’m going to wait a week or so to settle my fears about the academics xD.

@ aman - hahahhaa

Imagine staying in the same undergrad international hall at HKUST and trying to guess whoever amanagarwal or sathark or anad was. I think this thread has definitely given a huge influence on our decisions, especially if the international support is as strong as it is here, where we’re all total strangers who haven’t even met face to face!

It would be a blast if we all went! It’s only February!!! ARGH!

I am posting again, since there is no reply…

I am an IB Diploma Student, and my predicted grade is 31-33.

Got quite many extra curricular activities.

Can anyone tell me whether i can possibly get conditional offer for HKUST BBA?

conditional offer is just enough, because my predicted grade is lower than what i am capable of.

Please reply with your opinions guys!

Dexmax: They are awesome! (thats me consoling you) !! However, I’m not too sure as you arn’t allowed to go see the dorms from inside when you visit the Uni, as there are people living in there, and tht wuld be like privacy breach or trespassing …

HKUSTYAY: Looking at the number of people applying to HKUST this year, and all with really high marks, it might be a little difficult to get a conditional offer for HKUST now, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt apply, you never knw how Universities make decisions!!

niksy_nik7: Hey! I’m from India, lived there 16 years, but am finishing my high school in Shanghai right now…

aman: You almost made me cry there aman!! Very touching! lol
We’ll def meet in HKUST! And we should all start like a club for people from all over the world applying to HKUST, once we are in HKUST, so they can do what we did, and in that way they can help everyone connect while they are applying to HKUST!!
hmmm… what an idea Sirji! lol

phoenix_ice: You dont need to thank anyone mate, I think we all were selfish in helping people because we wanted them to join HKUST, so that we would know more people on campus !! And hopefully that has happened!

All: Join HKUST! Create History together! Lol… I have never sounded soo philosophical and motivational before !! haha…

@HKUSTYAY-Really sorry none of us could reply earlier…I think you will have a decent chance especially since you are applying for a BBA.You will definitely get an interview!!.They might give you an offer for a preparatory year(BBA) if not for the actual course …For Courses like BBA,Extra curricular activities is very important…
Basically,you must apply!!!:)

@Sarthak19118: Thanks for sharing your idea. I am aware (and surprise) that there are a lot of students got really high predicted grades. Well, chance is a chance; haha

@Anand78: Thanks for your optimistic point of view ! I actually both SAT and SAT subject scores, and they met the general requirements. So i just hope to get conditional offer:)
I have already summited my application at the end of December. I will keep post if i get an offer

THANKS GUYS

HKUSTTAT: I’m surprised too, to see soo many people apply to HKUST! But am pleasantly surprised … I second Anand’s opinion, you do have a decent chance, I wouldnt say a strong chance but DEF a good enough chance! and its all a matter of chance, so just keep your fingers crossed
Good Luck!

" Join HKUST! Create History together! "

Nice one Sarthak. If every1 in this thread gets admitted together it would surely be a success.

The thought of UST is like a drug…the more I research about it, the more hard it is to resist myself from getting into it(as I hear only good things about it).

" WE COME WITH THE FEAR OF NOT KNOWING ANYONE
BUT WE LEAVE WITH TEARS AFTER KNOWING EVERYONE "

aman: Well said my friend, well said! The thought of HKUST is def comparable 2 a drug, and as much as I am against drugs, this thought I shall never detest…
On that very emotional note: “Any more updates on HKUST admissions ?”

Well. Umm. I got an interview schedule today for HKUST! ._. gulps I wonder how the interview is going to be like.
Anyone any ideas or any suggestions? Haha. I applied for Bsc. Econs&Fin as first choice. Ecoooooons! XD

Hahaha. I don’t know if I am going to meet you guys or not, but if you do need help with anything just drop me an email, i’ll see what i can do. (:

alexavier: I didnt give the HKUST interview so I dont knw wht suggestions to give to you, but things that I have learned from general interviews:

anyone got an offer from cuhk?

Not me, I didnt apply…

I had applied to Econ&Fin, but it is my second choice.
I had applied earliy decision, and my IB predicted is 35, but still not a word from UST.
Maybe I’m korean and there are tons of korean students had applied UST this year as the asme as last year, or maybe 35points of IB is not strong enough for Econ&Fin.

any comments???

gogounivs: 35 points is certainly not less, specially when you add the 3 additional points it becomes like 37 or 38! def good marks… but maybe your first reason is right, there are a lot of Koreans applying to HKUST and they have ridiculously high marks !!
Did you have decent ex-curricular stuff? and when did you submit your application ?

i am an indian ustian ;)

I got my offer of admission and have to reply by March 8th. I’m pretty sure I’ll accept but not 100%. A lot to think about. Going to hk would be so different.

@niksy_nik7: Hows the education there…??Is it better that the INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM(I guess it is)??Which course?

Sarthak19118: U might misunderstood. IB plus additional point is 35 for me. and submitted everything at the end of 2009…
but still …
hahahahha
thanks 4 ur comments ^^
