so many views, so few posts...so bump

and tech is maybe decent for Business, but the hokies suck.

any acceptance from RD yet?

tech is 40 for business

with your stats you could go to purdue or penn state u park. i believe purdue krannert is like 20 or even 17s in undergrad business.

yea but the thing is, i'm going wehre i like. i looked at psu and didn't like it whatsoever, whereas I've wanted to go to Tech since I was 12. Soooo, here I am now.

jtran.... it is also important to be happy where you attend college. I have never heard of one kid, who attended or attends Virginia Tech, say he or she did not like it there. In fact, everyone says they love it! My youngest son is applying to colleges now. With his stats he could probably go anywhere. He looked at Carnegie Mellon, went through the hour and a half information session, toured the campus and hated it. He did not apply and we have been getting letters from the school asking why his application is not in. He did not like Pittsburgh or the campus. It is a great school but it was not a good fit. You have to feel comfortable with your choice and it sounds as if you know what you want. Not only is Tech a great school but also it is a lot of fun for the students. This Tech bashing is silly. The kids on this thread often try to mislead. I guess they get some kind of thrill from it. It is sad but I am glad to see that you are not being influenced by it.

thanks for that, it's reinforcing

hey jtran,, my first choice is VTech...
I look forawrd to meeting you at VTech in fall 2005 :)

boysmom is a hypocrite.

".......went through the hour and a half information session, toured the campus and hated it."

ever occur to you that some people don't like virginia tech's campus?

ever occur to you that we're talking about rankings/prestige/jobs about undergrad business and not about "hating" colleges?

ever occur to you that I use mainly facts and statistics in my posts instead of your hateful post demeaning other posters and trying to summarize their intentions?

god what a hypocrite......

Duke: You are a very immature and misinformed person. You have misconstrued all I have written. Everyone has a right to an opinion, even you. My son did not like CM's campus, the particular urban setting, and school description. The subject I was responding to was college settings and comfort. You should not take it so personally. Its tone was in no way hateful but your reaction is and the way you have responded to jtran and his concerns has been really cruel. Grow up. I do not think that you do have all the facts and your information is misleading. You can respond to this post in any vicious way you would like. I will not be reading it.

You give no facts and state opinions about another college(saying how your kid hated CMU), brag about your kid( saying "my youngest son can go anywhere"). Then you attack people on this board for being immature and "bashing" Virginia Tech when that is not what we have done at all. At least I have given facts (how is it MISINFORMATION that Vtech is ranked 40 in usnews? Go check it up yourself).

The only thing MISLEADING in this thread is probably your statement that everyone who has gone to vtech has loved it. How much contact have you had with Virginia tech alumni and students? I have lived 30 min away for my entire life and I can find you alot of people who says they hate the campus or hate the environment.

As for my own opinions, yes I am entitled to them as are you entitled to your Carnegie opinions. At least I've lived in VA all my life and can justify my opinions through my life experiences. Where do you come off posting,
Quote: "This Tech bashing is silly. The kids on this thread often try to mislead. I guess they get some kind of thrill from it. It is sad but I am glad to see that you are not being influenced by it."

Ironic no? Hypocrite.

PS: Also I think the comment about your youngest kid's ability to "go anywhere" shows exactly how biased you are. That's fine and all but don't attack other people and form opinions about them. Sorry your kid got rejected from CMU, have fun at tech.

I think everyone should stop arguing about what schools are better. The originial post was about me getting into Virginia Tech, not how reputable a schools it is. I am planning on studying accounting anyways, which will lead to being a CPA, leading to a job more easily than other majors in business at non-ivy schools.

So basically, let's get back to my chances of not getting in, and stop harassing each other.

well then, i believe you have very fine chances there. gl and hf.

My son did not like VT after touring it. He was accepted but didn't go. He found it too isolated and lacking in diversity. But everyone else I have met who actually went to Tech liked it very much. They have a very loyal, and fanatical group of alumni.

I went to the USC-VT last August at FedEx. Boy, 75,000 Hokies can make a lot of noise. Combined with the 15,000 or so USC fans it made for the higest attendance at a football game ever in the DC area.
