I think the Honors College needs to hire some additional students during this time of year to help them with the “paper pushing”. I realize that they’ve also been busy with UFE apps, CBH apps, and deciding Fall '10 honors course offerings, but this delay was just ridiculous.

I haven’t received the actual letter itself but I got an email today telling me I’ve been admitted and my letter is on it’s way. I submitted in November and met all the reqs by far so I was starting to get worried something had gone wrong!

D2 got her Honors Letter yesterday too. Noticed that it was dated Dec. 18th so something probably happened to keep them from going out before Christmas break. D2 did enjoy though that Dr. Sharpe had written a personal note on the letter. Somehow he already knew a lot about her. He knew too about D1, her work at Bama, where she went for her phd and how she was doing. And D1 predates his tenure with the Honors Program. Dr. Halli was still the director back in D1’s day. Wow! This personal touch really impressed D2–all she’s gotten from the other schools are pretty much form letters. Again, good luck to all of you guys and there really are a LOT of ways to distinguish yourself as you come through your undergraduate career, so take heart.

She received her Honors acceptance email on 9/30/09. She did email the honors dept. this week and they said that she was definitely in the Honors College and that the official letters were mailed last week, but we still haven’t received it yet. I guess we will wait until next week and then call.

LOL…September!!! I’m sure that her letter has fallen thru the cracks then. They probably have no idea that she didn’t receive her letter. I would call now.

Should we assume if we’ve gotten an invite to the CBHP weekend, that son is accepted into the Honors College?

Just concerned about the paperwork trail in regards to signing up for housing and BAMA BOUND.

Is there anything under myBama, like a checklist, that we can see son’s status, as far as honors college acceptance, enrollment deposit received, housing deposit/application received?

Yes, definitely, your son has been accepted to honors. Didn’t he get an email indicating acceptance? I know that the paper copies seem to be in some kind of limbo, but if the email was rec’d, that’s official, too.

Mike is right. As long as you’ve been accepted to honors, the paper doesn’t matter. Transfer students only get emails. They probably should start just giving incoming freshmen emails only.

Would the email be in Crimson mail or regular email? I recently discovered some of the Bama and other college email in son’s spam folder, which dumps periodically, so Lord knows what we’ve missed. That’s why I’m hoping there’s a general depository with a checklist so we can see son’s status as far as these individual categories like honors, scholarships, housing.

Just checked crimson mail and only honors related emails are that they received his application for CBHP and then the recent email inviting him for the weekend.

I’ll look back through the forum to get Ms. Gates’ number to call. I’ll check the other tabs as well, but wanted to post separately about the honors emails.
