@fatherof2boys. Thanks for the link. My kid who was accepted in Dec has a different message on the site: “Your application is currently under review for the University Honors or Ohio State Scholars Program. We will let you know when a decision has been made via email to your address on file with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Please note that decisions are made on a rolling basis with final notifications occurring in early April.”
@class22and23, that’s interesting. I don’t know if the difference is due to the different acceptance dates. My son applied for the Scholars program and there is no mention of University Honors in his message. Can you tell me if your child applied for Honors or for the Scholars program?
@fatherof2boys he applied to the Honors program. Since he was accepted in December, I am guessing that they have not even looked at his Honors program application.
@class22and23, that may be the case. Also, i think that the fact that he applied to University Honors also explains the difference in the messages. I believe that University Honors acceptances are made on a rolling basis. When my eldest son applied to Ohio State, he and other Scholars programs applicants were notified of their acceptances in March. I assume that it will be the same this application cycle with University Honors acceptances doled out on a rolling basis and University Scholars acceptances notifications going out in one big group notification.
@fatherof2boys the link you provided was very handy. Checked the link this evening and it was updated with.
"Dear XXX
Congratulations on your offer to join the University Honors Program at The Ohio State University!
Your place in the University Honors Program is secured once you confirm your enrollment at the University by paying the $100 acceptance fee on or before May 1, 2019 using the Accept/Decline link in your Application Center…"

@class22and23, that’s awesome…congrats on the welcome news!
Hi everyone! I just got notified that I am accepted into the STEM exploration and engagement scholars program class of 2023! I am so so so excited! These were my preferences:
- STEM Exploration and Engagement
- Health Resources
- Environmental Engineering (I think thats what its called)
I cant believe I got my first choice and was notified so soon! If anyone else got in too, please reach out to me so we can become friends. Good luck!
p.s I used this link: go.osu.edu/scholars
Congratulations @Nasagirl! If I remember correctly, STEM Exploration and Engagement live in Houston House…which is really nice.
Well done!
My son was accepted into the Business Scholars, his first choice selection. My eldest son is a junior at OSU and a member of Politics, Society and Law Scholars and when he received his acceptance it was part of a wave in which the other Scholars applicants were all notified as well. Therefore, I assume that everyone else who applied to a Scholars program likely has an answer on their placement at go.osu.edu/scholars. Good-luck to everyone.
Daughter was accepted into her first choice, International Affairs Scholars!!
When did everyone who heard back from scholars submit their program preferences?
@jjulesjenks, I have heard a lot of good things about that program. If my son was not a business major, he would have selected it as his first option, but since he’s a business major he chose Business Scholars. Anyway, International Affairs Scholars are housed at Smith Steeb. That dorm is located on South Campus and it is really nice, my eldest son who is a junior at OSU was housed there as a freshman in Politics, Scholars and Law Scholars.
@Keadyyy, the email that my son received from Ohio State requested that he submit his preferences by December 17, 2018.
My daughter was accepted to her first choice Humanities Scholars. Are there any other Humanities Scholars on here? @Keadyyy She got the email to submit her preferences on 1/4/19 and submitted them on the evening of 1/7/19. She was a December acceptance.
My daughter was a November admit and she submitted her Scholar choices on December 12th.
I just got accepted to Humanities Scholars! I am still on the fence about my decision though, Kent State has given me a full ride so unless OSU gives some significant financial aid I’ll probably be going to Kent.
Yesterday, my son was accepted into Humanities Scholars which happened to be his first choice. He was a November admit and I believe he had his preferences in by early December. He said the email mentioned housing @ Baker Hall East. All 17 Scholars Programs sound interesting! This was his list.
- Humanities
- Internal Affairs
- Media, Marketing/Communications
If anyone was accepted into “International Affairs Scholars,” my daughter started a Facebook group for introductions. You should be able to find it by searching “OSU International Affairs Scholars 2023”
For people wondering about acceptance into the Honors Program, my son didn’t receive any mail or email yet, but by following this link: You can check the status of your scholars application by going to the following link: go.osu.edu/scholars and then logging in, he found out he was accepted into Honors program. I just wish they’d put the Honors kids into nicer dorms. Oh well.
@Mombean do you know why I can’t log in on that page? It just hangs once I type in my credentials. (redirects to https://hsapp.osu.edu/secure/confirmation.aspx and displays nothing)
I was notified that I did not get into the Honors program, but that I am welcome to submit my preferences for a Scholars program. If I do this and get into one, is it binding that I go to OSU, because I am still not decided.
