Thanks. This site, although informative, can be discouraging at times to those without perfect scores. Today’s news proves TU looks at the student and his/her “body of work” not just test scores. Good luck to all. Roll Wave!

I love this site. It is extremely helpful for students throughout high school, college, the transition, and process of admission. But yes, it is a bit discouraging since most people are well above the average stats (at least for Tulane). But I try not to worry when I see so many top applicants being accepted because there are always people with amazing stats that apply.

Make no mistake about it, CC is definitely overly represented with the top their students. There also seems to be a rough correlation between the selectivity of a school and its national appeal with the amount of activity it gets on CC.

Congrats Jammer! Very exciting. It sounds like he deserves it.

Bowler,

If you count up all the acceptances on this thread, it will be a tiny, tiny, fraction of the overall acceptances at Tulane. While it shows that Tulane attracts some very talented students, it is not a representative sample of overall acceptances. Stay positive. I can assure you that I am not the only one hoping for your acceptance. I truly hope it works out for you.

To all those accepted, congratulations. To those waiting for the decision, all the best.

Jammer - congrats! I would say his non-academic activities are extraordinary enough! I bet that great level of involvement helped push the award amount, but a 4.0 is nothing to sneeze at. All that dedication and hard work really paid off.

Thank you twoby! I actually thought about that point too and figured it was just a small fraction of what is to come. Thank you everyone for your support and good luck to anyone else who applied or is applying.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow will be the day for us Bowler!

I hope it is soon!

Oliver17…some stats for you. My DD had a 32 on ACT, 2120 on SAT (750 CR, 620 M, 750 W), 3.7 UW GPA, 4.1 W GPA, but only barely in top 15% in class at her very competitive public high school. She has excelled on the golf team for 5 years, captain last year and state champs two years in a row. She is involved in an excellent drama program at her HS.

She has a very strong demonstrated interest and applied SCEA. She visited during spring break junior year and went to Preview Day recently. She also attended the Tulane Comes to You events this year and last year.

So, we were a little concerned about the class rank, but she takes several AP classes and already scored a 5 on the English AP test. Much luck to you and your kid!

Mommamafia - Congrats!- when did your DD apply? Also, can you share what part of the country you are from?

Son and I returned home from a very quick college visit trip yesterday to find his Tulane letter waiting for him. Awarded Presidential ($27,000) with Honors invitation. I am so very happy for him and he was very excited.

Wow, congrats to all who are getting accepted! We are still waiting (in the dark) in NY.

Congrats! My status is back to saying that it is complete.

Same. My application is officially complete.

Rydert–We are from the southeast, and she completed her app in late September, I believe 9/29

FC and anyone else that wants to help out. My son applied 10/1. Our counseling office will not send any transcripts or other documents until proof that they have applied. I think that is a good thing. Problem is my son asked for the transcripts on 10/1. They have not been sent yet. I sent the counselor a reminder that Tulane worked sort of rolling for the early admissions about one week ago. She only answered to say it would be there by the deadline. My son applied single choice early action. So they have had the request to send the transcript for 1 month. Apparently they were working on the transcripts for schools with earlier deadlines. So she has no intention of doing it sooner. Since they have to write a counselor report I feel that if I continue to be pushy she could realistically write a negative counselor report. So I feel my hands are tied and that I can’t or shouldnt go to the principle.
I also read here that it really shouldn’t matter when you send the stuff as long as it is before the deadline. Is this true?
I am so frustrated with this counseling office in a private school. This is my second time around in two years. I’m so glad I have no more kids going to this school. I have been happy for the last 7 years for the most part except the counseling office from day 1.

Well!! I guess first I will talk about that counselor. This is a private school, so you are paying for great teaching and great service. I would not only go to the principal or even the head of the board, but also insist that someone you trust (the principal perhaps, or a teacher that knows your son very well) gets to review the recommendation to avoid even the appearance of retribution. I find the behavior of this counselor deplorable.

Having said that, will it really matter if the application is not complete until right at the deadline? It might matter just a little, but if he is well qualified and shown all the interest he can (sounds like you have read the high points on here so I won’t repeat them), then it really won’t. Can you share his stats? I looked to see if you had posted them elsewhere, but I didn’t see them.

I do see you have one at Florida, although I didn’t really read the posts. How is he doing? Surviving freshman year?

Readalotmom - I feel your pain! It’s a tricky spot - you want and deserve the service but at the same time you are concerned about pusing the counselor too hard for fear of potential retribution. I was in a similar spot at a public HS. My Ds counselor insisted on working on the students transcripts that were appyling EA with a Nov 1 deadline before working on my Ds. She knew her SCEA deadline was Nov 15. I emailed her several times explaining that the earlier TU receives the app the better but to no avail. She finally sent the information this morning!
I would talk to your counselor one more time and if you are not satisfied with her response, I would take FCs recommendation and go to the principal. Good luck.

Hi guys,
Just a quick question.
I submitted the part one of the application a couple of weeks ago and am done with my part 2 now. I realized however that i never checked over my part one of the application before i submitted it. It was pretty basic info. My question is, is there a way to go back and check it or is it not so important.
Also, do they care if i submit a resume instead of fill out the fill ins?
Thanks
