How soon will we hear about admission decision?

Help! I’m freaking out a little.
I submitted my app back in early September - Gibson said “complete” on 10/7.
The problem was that my “Why Tulane?” essay did NOT submit correctly, and I didn’t realize until about 3 weeks ago. I emailed my admissions counselor my essay, explaining my mistake, but so far I have not gotten a response from her (Laura Meagher).
I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA, a 31 ACT, with lots of extracurriculars and lots of APs. I’m really hoping to get in and I’m completely freaking out because I haven’t heard anything yet.

Potential Tulane parents, you are all so hilarious. I logged on again after a couple days offline and read so many comments about Mofthree and the looooooong nap, LOL!

Mofthree, that is so exciting. Thanks for sharing the story. I would have texted her too, but I understand about naps. My youngest (10th grade DD) takes lots of them.

Vitrac, I think I saw some old posts of yours about College of Charleston? My DD has applied there, but we haven’t heard anything yet. They are a state school (and so SCEA doesn’t cause a conflict), and she didn’t mark the application ‘early’ in any way; they just say that if you get everything in by a certain date, they will go ahead and start considering you. Anyway, I think that she will get in and into the Honors Program and hopefully get lots of $$$. If she gets in their International Scholars Program, then she may have a big decision to make between there and Tulane. But, that program is super-selective and requires another visit and interviews, etc. Any advice greatly appreciated. Or maybe I should quit thinking about it and just cross that bridge if we get to it.

How long after your Gibson notification did it take for all of you to get the letter?

runallday4:Saw notification on a Sunday, got letter on that thursday, but I am guessing it varies as snail mail always does.

mommaM: I was cracking up at the long nap advice. Love this thread.

Saw Congrats on Gibson Thursday, Nov 1 and received letter in the mail on Tuesday, November 6

I saw my congrats on Gibson on Monday, the 5th and have not yet received a letter. I am hoping to see it tomorrow or Monday but I won’t be home tomorrow or Sunday to check the mail!

allisonten - saw the stats on the other thread, those are amazing. I am assuming at her school a 5.0 is perfect. With the 34 ACT and the great EC’s, it is no wonder she heard back so quickly. I am assuming she showed good interest in Tulane as well.

So I am just hoping/encouraging that she apply for the full tuition scholarships, Deans Honor Scholarship and the Paul Tulane Award. If you/she has any questions about these, ask away. But she would appear to have an excellent chance at getting one of these.

Thanks fallenchemist. Yes, our HS is odd. For some reason, we are on a 5 pt scale. She had the opportunity to visit in early October and stayed with a friend from home. Did a tour, interview, classes, visited NOLA. Loved everything. Thanks for the heads up on the Paul Tulane Award. She has been stressing over “box” ideas for the DHS. Again, this thread has been so informational! thanks to all!

allisonten–wonderful news, very happy for you guys!

AcrobaticRachel–sending up a quick prayer you hear something soon and that you remain calm throughout. I’m sure it’s all going to be OK.

mofthree: I am so glad you thought it was funny. When you didn’t come back and post for a while, I was afraid we scared you away. Maybe my suggestion that you PM me her cell # was a bit over the top and freaky. Sorry about that!

allisonten: Congratulations! Happy for you and your DD!

Anyway, for those still waiting… DS saw his notification of acceptance on Thursday afternoon, 11/1, and received the letter in the mail on 11/5. (He applied back in mid-September, but they hadn’t even started reading apps at that time.)

We saw the congratulations on Gibson on the 1st (I think) and got the letter today (9th). There may have been some delay due to the hurricane, blackouts, fuel shortages and blizzard (10 inches of snow yesterday!). But it was worth the wait! Good luck everyone…

allisonten - If she searches this forum under DHS, Deans Honor, etc. she will see some threads that talk about past projects. That helps spark some people, others don’t want to get those kinds of thoughts in their heads. Just depends. Here is one she should read though. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/tulane-university/1234066-dhs-project.html?highlight=dhs</a> (post #5 on this one is especially informative)

Otherwise for some people it helps to just put it out of their mind for a day or two, go someplace quiet to just relax, feed ducks or something, and often a great idea comes to them. She will figure it out I am sure.

Congrats to all of those that have been accepted!!! Still waiting :(… It has been two months and counting since I sent in my app and I’m starting to loose patients…

*patience! Got to love auto correct on the iPhone!

Checked my D’s Gibson account for the millionth time today… It says Congratulations! She’s in!!! Applied 10/20 - application complete 11/8 - accepted 11/9

Nice! Congrats Rydert. And of course Rydert’s D.

Congrats to you guys! I’m happy to hear the news.

Hurray Rydert and D! So exciting!!! Enjoy opening the pretty envelope.

Thank you all for your well wishes. This thread has been so fun, entertaining, and most of all very helpful. I appreciate everyone’s input!

Way to go Rydert!! Happy for ya’ll!
