SeaLion–That is correct.

There have been acceptances posted ranging from no scholarship at all to scholarships ranging from $8,000 to the highest “automatic consideration” scholarship, the $27,000 Presidential. All Presidential winners are in the Honors Program, and some (not sure how many, maybe half?) of the Distinguished Scholar’s winners ($25,000) are invited as well. In total about 10-12% of the incoming class is invited to the Honors Program, usually. Fluctuates because obviously some that are offered decide to go to other schools, just as you are considering OSU. The other awards are (I think) $22,000 $20,000 $15,000 and $8,000.

The full tuition awards I mention in my other post would replace your Presidential Scholarship should you win one. Tulane doesn’t award more than full tuition for merit scholarships in most cases, but of course if there is need-based aid required beyond that one is still eligible to receive help with those costs.

My son applied the end of Aug using the Universal app - a few weeks later he got a personalized one but we were told that the apps would be treated the same way. Never received a user name or ID for Gibson - we waited because the website said it would come out in mid Oct. We waited but finally called end of Oct - apparently his info was “scattered” meaning all his scores, essays, transcripts, etc were in different places. Finally got a user name + # last week. His stats are 2080 SAT, 31 ACT, 4.0 w, strong essays, great community service, sports + president of his youth group. Still waiting - Gibson changes from app complete to incomplete - we are going crazy!! Any advice???

No, you are not going crazy. Well, maybe you are but you are not crazy in seeing this happen. This glitch in Gibson has been well documented on here, but in the end it does not seem to cause any harm beyond the gray hairs some of you are getting. But now that they have all his info in one place, they will make a decision by Dec. 15. Certainly by stats and other info you have provided, he looks like a very good Tulane candidate. Best of luck and have a great holiday.

Thanks for the info - I guess we are a bit frustrated because we learned about kids being accepted who got their apps in a month later or more…

Have a great Thanksgiving!

This happens with most schools every year. A few applicants somehow get two files started so the application always looks incomplete. It is really unfortunate, and does cause delays for those individuals. It isn’t fair because you did nothing wrong, but it happens. At least you found out and got it fixed. Dec 15 not too far off now anyway.

That happened to my son with his Tulane app. They had 2 half complete files on him. They finally got the files together after several phone calls on his part, and the rest, as they say, is history. Good luck, and happy holidays everyone.

jym is being modest, because that history is not only that her son got into Tulane, but he won the DHS and he has now graduated and had 3 solid offers of employment (at least, those are the ones I know about) before (maybe even well before?) graduation. He chose one that kept him in New Orleans for the time being.

I just hope my son is not at a disadvantage because of it…and that my son does as well as jym’s did…! Congrats!

Good luck, bloomy. I am sure he’ll do great. It’s hard to believe it was a year ago that DS had those job offers in hand. Time sure flies. And thanks for the sweet words, fc.

I just got accepted today!! SO excited!

Congrats!!

applied nov 15, online notification nov 22

Still waiting.

The horror, the horror.

Gibson showed my application as complete on 11/17 and I saw the online acceptance on 11/21

Well done, pinkpig and quietdesperation. Pinkpig, mind posting your stats and some background info? Quiet, I saw yours on the other thread. Good luck with the merit scholarship.

@quietdesperation, did you apply Oct.15th or Nov.15th ?? You have stated both. Thx.

I have a 30 ACT, 1970 SAT, 3 SAT II’s: Spanish 650, Literature 700, US History 740. I am the president of 5 clubs and a member of 9. I have hundreds of service hours and I won a community service award from my local Congressman. I went to Duke University’s Institute of Advanced Cancer Therapies this summer. I wrote a pretty good Why Tulane essay in my opinion. I have/am taking 6 APs and all honors. I am also a white female from PA.

Goodness, I am exhausted just reading all you do! Great high school career, I can see why Tulane might be a good fit for you.

Daughter accepted on Wed 11/21 at 5:15 pm. I know it wasn’t there even 5 minutes earlier because I had checked lol. Figured I’d check one more time and then give up until after the holiday weekend. For those who’ve been waiting, this should give you hope. Daughter applied 10/14. They had everything by 10/21 when she called and Gibson said complete on 10/23…then incomplete, complete, blank, back to complete, etc. It was getting very frustrating to be waiting and waiting, especially with some getting responses within days…but a great feeling when the “congratulations” message finally appeared. So…those who have been waiting for a month or more…don’t give up :)

Now we wait for the letter and hopefully a scholarship!
